nV sweep CPH Wolves, advance to final

EnVyUs have brought down Copenhagen Wolves in the second semifinal of DreamHack Open London (16-8 on de_mirage and 16-9 on de_cbble) and advance to meet TSM in the grand final.

The second semifinal of day two of DreamHack Open London featured a showdown between the Frenchmen of EnVyUs, who comfortably won Group A, and the Norwegian-Swedish mix of Copenhagen Wolves, who managed to upset both SK Gaming and G2.Kinguin during the later stages of Group B yesterday.

The first map of de_mirage saw nV kick off their T-side with aggressive, fast-paced tactics and a determination to never slow down their pace of play.

Simon "twist" Eliasson and co. were unable to come up with an effective defensive answer, and after a 12-3 first half for the Frenchmen, a pistol win and eco conversion by CPH Wolves in the second half was ultimately to no avail as EnVyUs took the first map 16-8.

apEX was given a series where his run and gun tactics were welcome

de_cbble was even more of a sweep on nV's T-side with Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt and Dan "apEX" Madesclaire leading charges up B long and mid that CPH Wolves did not have the skillset, coordination, or even determination to counter such play. The first half ended 13-2 for EnVyUs.

CPH Wolves once again won the second pistol round and brought some life into the team's Nordic sails. Successful anti-eco conversions and a scraped-through first gunround meant that the score was brought as close as 13-8 before nV rallied with NBK- picking up crucial kills with a MAG-7 in Skyfall.

CPH Wolves showcased a particular style of mental fortitude and simply rushed B-long and managed to pick up another round, nearly resetting nV's economy. A zany force-buy by nV did the trick however and gave the Frenchmen the final momentum to close out the series, winning 16-9.

With this victory, EnVyUs are advancing to a best-of-three grand final showdown with TSM, a match-up which is turning out to be quite a rivalry since the new EnVyUs roster formed, with the Frenchmen emerging victorious 3-0 in the grand final of IEM Gamescom and winning 2-1 over TSM in the semifinal of ESL One Cologne.
