EnVyUs win DreamHack Open London

EnVyUs have won $20,000 and first place in the grand final of DreamHack Open London, defeating TSM 2-0 (16-13 on de_dust2 and 16-13 on de_inferno).

With the two expected finalists of EnVyUs and TSM reaching the grand final of DreamHack Open London, the map veto came down to the following maps for the late evening showdown in London: de_dust2, de_inferno, and de_mirage.

The beginning of de_dust2 was a tit-for-tat matter with both teams exchanging blows: Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen used excellent crouch-play at the back of B platform to help TSM win the pistol round whereas Kenny "kennyS" Schrub won a crucial one-on-three in the third round to give EnVyUs much needed momentum.

The Frenchmen notched up a promising lead by the end of the first half, after playing multiple rounds in their signature loose and aggressive style; the half ended 9-6 for nV.

EnVyUs continue to dominate against TSM in head-to-head matches

The second pistol round saw Fabien "kioShiMa" Fiey get an ace but still be unable to stop the bomb from exploding in time, which gave TSM both pistols of the match and allowed them to drive the score to 9-9.

TSM kept up the pressure, with Nicolai "device" Reedtz winning another important one-versus-one against nV leader Vincent "Happy" Schopenhauer on the 20th round, using a smart pop flash to drop into CT spawn and take out the fortified Frenchman.

EnVyUs then turned up the heat, winning an eco round, and the deciding moment of the match ocurred when kioShiMa won a one-versus-two at 14-12 for nV, sticking a defuse inside of a fire patch and managing to defuse the bomb with 3 HP left. EnVyUs picked up de_dust2 with a 16-13 victory.

kennyS reappeared at the end of de_inferno

On de_inferno, EnVyUs opened up the map with a characteristic aggressive T-side pistol and picked up the round win. TSM began to rally with much-needed CT rounds, going up to a respectable 7-3 scoreline before the Frenchmen began to hard-counter Finn "karrigan" Andersen's defensive set-ups. nV finished their T-half in the lead at 8-7.

The game only continued to grow in intensity in the second half, with EnVyUs winning the pistol convincingly, only to be eco'ed by TSM, and then to have that reversed by a deagle ace by nV's captain Happy, one of the most highlight-worthy plays in recent memory.

TSM showcased great mental fortitude after such humiliation however, and began to pull ahead again, this time moving up to an 13-10 scoreline which forced the Frenchmen to call a timeout.

This time EnVyUs answered in kind yet again, with star kennyS first picking up a rifle ace and then switching to the AWP in the next round and hitting three lightning fast shots as if showcasing nV's rising chances at winning the map. At 13-13, both teams brought the round to a close two-on-two, which EnVyUs won and which gave TSM a final gunround to try and equalise.

With kennyS still hitting noscope shots and failing to miss, TSM were unable to gain a single round after 13, and EnVyUs won the map 16-13 on de_inferno, not dropping a single map in the tournament.

Its not the prize money that defines the level of the tournament, it is the teams attending and what they bring to the table.

that's just not true! tsm just lost every important/key round; could have easily be the other way round even with a higher win for tsm (not saying nv had luck or sth, they had incredible rounds and individually plays)

They made too many "common mistake" which you don't expect from pros. In dust 2, they went for aim duel & we all know in Counter-Strike "you never go for fair fight". In inferno, why they had to peek Happy 1 by 1? It isn't Happy being lucky, it's TSM being stupid. They should have taken a time-out.

They didn't peak Happy, they peaked a smoke and Happy just got insanely lucky with his timings. Its not all luck, but it isn't TSM being that stupid at all. But in reference to calling TSM overhyped. TSM have "always" had trouble playing EnVyUS and that more random trap style that goes for a lot of peaks and 1on1's during the game and overwhelming play colapsing on sites. On the other hand EnVy have problems with fnatic and fnatic have trouble defeating TSM. Such is CS, there are some teams you play well against because that style fits yours better. EnVy was not the underdog - its was going to be a fairly even match with EnVyUS as slight favourites, because of their history against TSM.

nV are more overhyped... still they can't win against FNATIC . Kenny just made some fantastic plays in such important rounds, thus, that made nV win

nV was underdog. How a underdog team being hyped here? TSM gave nV lucky break. I'm not a good CS:GO player. But if someone through their body in front of me in game It'll head shot them or spray'em down & there will be very little luck or skill involved in that.

apEX bad day or too bad overall? shox would do way better than him, EnVyUs would be Top 1. That would be actually a dream team of France, am I right? Congratulations France! >,,< EnVyUs > TSM fnatic > EnVyUs TSM > fnatic That current top three scene, lol.
