face joins Torpedo as coach

Torpedo Gaming have announced that former SK Gaming star Johan "face" Klasson has been hired to coach their CS:GO squad.

Back in August, Torpedo Gaming, a UK-based organisation, ventured into the Counter-Strike scene with the acquisition of the Swedish team known as UNLEASHED, who have had some good results in online tournaments in recent months.

Last weekend, the team were seen in action at ASUS ROG Nordic with David "⁠Blote⁠" Ekdahl as a stand-in for John "⁠Awien⁠" Waltersson, finishing 3rd-4th following a 0-2 defeat against MIXCAT in the semi-finals.

Torpedo have now announced that Johan "⁠face⁠" Klasson has agreed to help the team reach the next level with the experience that he gained throughout his career, when he won tournaments like IEM IV GC Chengdu, SEC 2010 and ESWC 2011.

"Johan is a huge name in the Counter-Strike scene winning some of the biggest events in 1.6 and proved to be one of the best players to play the game," Richard Brown, Torpedo's Head of Operations, said in a statement.

"We feel that having his experience on our side can only benefit us in the long run and we look forward to seeing what he can help the guys achieve as part of the Torpedo family."

face gave CS:GO a try during the early stages of the game, but his tenure in mTw, in which he played alongside Joshua "⁠steel⁠" Nissan and Andre "⁠nooky⁠" Utesch and George "⁠hudzG⁠" Hoskins, was short lived as he ended up being replaced after just one month.

Yup! I remember when gtr and f0rest left fnatic to join SK, then fnatic won IEM, and then untill CS:GO started they really sucked. It was all about, Golden 5(poland), MTW(DK) and Na´Vi(Ukraine). SK never really got in shape, yes they got onto some semifinals and finals, but i don't recall the so called "Super team" of GTR, f0rest, Delpan, Face and Robban win anything? You may correct me if im wrong. it's all i really remember :)

You are so wrong, SK had some problems after GT and f0rest joined. But when they brought in Delpan they had a 40 wins in a row or something on LAN. They dominated everything for a while there.. Maybe should look it up before talking. 2011 was the year of SK. Delpan joined in May/June and then SK started to dominate.

I kinda agree, though your statement will make a lot of people mad. I don't see how being a successful 1.6 player makes one eligible to be a good coach. You either are able to motivate people, or you're not, and that has nothing to do with your previous experience with the game. And I highly doubt he'll be of much use in terms of providing them with strategy and gameplay tips.

just give up , the new generation of kids is totally retarded and think they are smarter then everyone else because they are studborn , they insist at being retarded and refuse to think in a logical way. He thinks cs is like WASD click click , FIRE IN THE HOLE , or something. He doesnt know a thing about playing real cs , how intense it can be , and how much someone like face can add to the team. You can check on all those " new " teams who actually have some good playstyle , they do some amazing things against big teams , but after 2-3 rounds without being able to execute anything , they choke , choke hard and are unable to do something , do actually spend that next eco , talking about it , "resetting" their mind , getting focused again. cs:go isn't a game like 1.6 when your skill and ideas would change the game , in cs:go a p90 can trash your ideas , and that's how those stupid kids are born.
