Official: Luminosity add fnx, TACO

Luminosity Gaming have confirmed on their official website the additions of Games Academy duo Tacio "TACO" Filho and Lincoln "fnx" Lau to their CS:GO squad.

HLTV.org had reported on Monday evening that Luminosity were on the verge of replacing Ricardo "⁠boltz⁠" Prass and Lucas "⁠steel⁠" Lopes following a run of poor form that saw them finish in the top four at the iBUYPOWER Invitational and at the RGN Pro Series Championship, and in the top eight at IEM San Jose.

Lincoln "⁠fnx⁠" Lau and Epitacio "⁠TACO⁠" de Melo join Luminosity after raising eyebrows with Games Academy, who are competing in North America thanks to Golden Chance, a gaming project created by Gabriel "⁠FalleN⁠" Toledo with a view to developing the Brazilian scene. 


TACO and fnx join Luminosity 

Games Academy coach Wilton "⁠zews⁠" Prado has also been hired to guide the team, replacing Renato "⁠nak⁠" Nakano, who had been part of the squad since it joined Luminosity.

"This decision was not made lightly, and was made collectively as a team," a statement from Luminosity read.

"Over the past few months our team has consistantly failed to obtain the results we had hoped to achieve as an organization.

"We ask that you respect the decision and the process of roster changes, that goes on behind the scenes.

"We feel it best to keep the discussions, reasons, and details private between the players and the organization."

The new Luminosity roster will have a baptism of fire as it will face fnatic in the first group round of the FACEIT League Stage 3 Finals. DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca champions EnVyUs and Ninjas in Pyjamas make up the rest of the group.

It's funny, cuz people have been bashing Fallen for not making changes for a long time and when it happens, a lot of butthurt fans start to talk crap about him, just like when he kicked hen1 and lucas out of KABUM. OK, not talking about the changes, but and the players that still in Games Academy? And the team that they were building, training hard, growing every day and winning stuff ? Now probably they will return home and under pressure, decide what to do, if they'll continue playing or not, create a new team and other things. They will "decrease" their level playing in Brazil in comparison with NA. Their chance of really showing what they are is probably gone. I hope to be wrong about what I'm thinking and writing and hope Luminosity can show a better game. I wish all the best in life and career of the players who are in Games Academy and hope they give a comeback and succeed as players.

I feel sorry for GA too man, don't get me wrong. But this would happen eventually, everybody knew it. Perhaps taking 2 + coach was a really rip off, but they need to hold their head up and continue to put up a fight. They already said it they will get 2 more players and continue to live in US, so maybe not all hope is lost for them. I just think it was a little bit delusional to think BR could have 2 top teams the way things were going. If LG achieves something, people will forget this, just like happened with MiBR and GC in 2006

Think it like this: Before GA Brazil had 5players who've been able to show their potential against T1 American teams. After GA there are 10. 2of them will join LG Then there is 7 Brazilians who've played for tier1 NA team, after a year or so there will be more and more. Maybe finally Brazil will have 2 tier1 NA teams and there will be 3rd team as the "youth team" :) Its all good to Brazilian scene even if FalleN helps himself in there as well :)

That's not true. C9 is definitely not better than them in any respect. VP and Navi are slightly better than them because when they are on they do win tournaments. But those teams are off a lot of the time and that's when g2 slips in

Alright let's start with the lineup with scream (scream isn't as good as jkaem and I count this lineup because it contains the core) Cologne top8, Gamers paradise (joke but still a win), Cluj, IEM San jose. So out of the about 5-6 tournaments they played recently, they did well. And I think dreamhack valencia is in there somewhere but that's from a while ago and I know I missed 1 other

Yeah actually I do want to claim that g2 acheived more. C9 had about 2 months of good play where they were an easy top5-top6 team. And they acheived a solid 3 top 2s in a row which is in no way a small feat. They played the likes of fnatic, Navi, TSM, and EnvyUS to get there. BUT the point that needs to get across with C9 is that they were awful before that run, and awful after. That is the reason the consistency factor was put into my argument. Cloud9 hasn't done anything since that run and has no sign of ever returning to that run. G2 on the other hand has accomplished a top4 and top8 at the recent majors, played very close series with top4 teams, Even winning some in bo3s. Although on the results board they haven't really accomplished a hot streak of 2 runs. But they are a better team and while they have been a team they have had much more consistent results than cloud9. And G2 shows no sign of stopping, because they are made up of ALL world class players and not just a bunch of no good NA players. The guys stats are terrible because he has been playing in a pure support role while steel was playing the lurker role and being terrible. + before adding coldzera to be the #1 player in the team he was playing really good he was the 2nd best player after fer. not understandable at all.. I think it was because boltz was a very quiet guy... Communication could be one of the reasons. As T, he was a good entry fragger. But as CT, he was kinda bad player. He played the exact same spot over and over again, very lonely, not changing his positioning one single round and not playing together with his bombsite mate.

you don't know what happened. steel was clearly underperforming heavily just looking at numbers but they might well have had internal disagreements about how to play and if the team doesn't get along then you will never work and better to fix it fast than try for months and months without any change.

Just saying: every brazilian that follows LG were asking for changes. And now when these changes comes, they just attack Fallen? lol Everybody knows he is the captain of the team, but it wasn't his decision alone. All the team and the organisation choosed that way. Btw, I just don't get it. FNX and TACO were entry fraggers on GA. Steel was lurker and, as far as I know, boltz was support (cold and fer being entry). So, even if boltz can be entry fragger, someone will have to change his role. This will take time. And I don't think that boltz should get kicked. I know that his 'QQ thing' is annoying, but he always did his job. He sometimes stepped up, but I think that he was the 2nd most consistent player in the line up. He was just behind coldz (who's being a monster). Fer isn't playing his full potential. We all know that. As well Fallen. He can awp so much better, but he is not in his true perform. But boltz was there everytime they needed him. Well, let's see. I'm saying this now: if they can bootcamp a little or just practice some things together before FACEIT Lans, they can really upset Fnatic (again). FNX is a nice player, but I'm not sure about Taco.

They had a lot of mistakes, last tournament they were close in the score with navi and lost to themselves: -Always choked in BO3; -steel kinda always bottom frag on regular-basis and never clutches; -boltz had "QQ taping", communication and position issues, but he's very young and can fix it. -nak was just a cheerleader for what ppl said. Now brozilians don't have anything to complain about the skill of players. This line is the very best of Brazil IMO. Ofc the chemestry could take sometime to appear, to make 5 players become a team.
