Ninjas in Pyjamas pulled off the first big upset of the FACEIT League Stage 3 finals after beating DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca champions EnVyUs 16-8 on de_mirage.

The first couple of rounds in the match were extremely highly contested as teams literally traded round for round. With the scoreline 2-2, NiP took control of the proceedings and won three rounds in a row, forcing an early timeout from EnVyUs, whose high tempo play simply was not being effective.

NiP remained in the driving seat and took a landslide 9-2 lead as EnVyUs continued to strugle to break down the Swedes' defensive line. In danger of gettting blown out if this trend continued, EnVyUs picked up the final four rounds of the half to reduce the deficit to 6-9.

f0rest led the charge for NiP

Fuelled by the support of the crowd, NiP opened up the second half with five rounds straight, bringing the scoreline to 14-6. It was only then that EnVyUs were able to tighten up their defense, but since NiP had built up such a solid bank they were able to continue to buy. The Swedish side gave up two rounds before sealing an impressive 16-8 victory to silence critics.

I still feel like they made too many mistakes. For example the Allu vs Kio on B. Allu with a deagle can't kill him in the back and he dies on the next clip. They lose that round. Or the round as terrorists. Forest kills 2 guys on A. 5vs3. He pushes through the smoke into connector. Why? He loses the duel. They plant 4vs3 and all hide in T ramp or palace. They die one by one and the round goes to Envyus. Why would you push on a 5vs3. And why would you hide in shitty spots after the plant? Just stay on the bombside. 9-2 or something to 9-6.. now it didn't matter because they started good in the second half but normally it's a recipe for a close game. sv_f0rest 1

I don't think NiP beating nV is an upset at all. Sure they might not be as good as they used to, but they are still a top 10 team and it's not like top 10 teams can't beat each other in any given day. I'd be surprised if NiP won 10 matches in a row against them, but calling this result an upset is misleading imo.
