mTw have announced that Martin "trace" Heldt has come out of retirement to join their CS:GO squad.

Martin "⁠trace⁠" Heldt hung up his mouse and keyboard in July 2013 after struggling for form during the first year of competitive CS:GO, when he played for a fnatic side who failed to live up to expectations.

He returns to action in the organisation where he spent a glittering two years, between 2009 and 2011, to reunite with his former teammates Alexander "⁠ave⁠" Holdt, Christoffer "⁠Sunde⁠" Sunde and Oliver "⁠minet⁠" Minet.

trace will try to replicate his impressive 1.6 form in his second CS:GO stint

There is now just one vacant spot on mTw's roster, which many expect to be filled by Danny "⁠zonic⁠" Sørensen, who acted as dignitas' coach up until recently.

If you think just because they were gods in 1.6 and automatically they will be gods at GO, then you have mental issues. Teams that tried to bring the same line-ups from 1.6 like Na'Vi or Fnatic got smashed by NiP on the early days, and had to immediately add someone new.

They are top teams after playing the game solidly for 3 years and practising constantly, as well as changing their rosters to eventually get a solid team. mTw have absolutely no chance of achieving anything in csgo with the above 5 players for at least 6 months, but I'd say probably longer. CSGO is fucking competitive right now, it's not an easy game and it's definitely not easy to just walk in with a new team and get to the top.

Yeah. A lot of people talk about "killing their legacy" or whatever. Which doesn't make sense to me. What they did and achieved in 1.6 will always be the same. Let them try this now. I mean I can kind of understand when people think it's a "sellout" move - that they only now come into it that the game is thriving. But then they dedicated so much of their lives to the game, they deserve everything they can get now. And I'm sure they will have a proper working mindset, going into it without the expectation that they can be a TOP5 team right off the bat. Hopefully they will stick around and put in the hours; then I can really see them becoming something to reckon with throughout 2016.

Absolutely far behind. trace, NEO and markeloff far surpassed GTR's and forest's level - simply because the beforementioned left a scene where people still improved. At the very end of 1.6, trace, for instance, would wipe the floor with the GTR that left the scene. I'm purely talking about skill.

If you judge on pure skill he is top5 with neo, forest, gtr and markeloff. It's basically imposible to argue who were/is the most skilled out of these five because they played on different teams and had different roles. But it really doesnt matter, I appreciate all of them very much:D If you're talking about goat (greatest of all time) you must also consider achievements and longevity, why there's really only two players to choose from: Neo and forest. For me it's neo, but I understand why a lot say forest.

When they all five played at the same time, they were very equal in skill with GTR and f0rest being a little above trace I'd say though. But GTR and f0rest left a scene where people still improved due to competitive play. trace, NEO, and markeloff stayed. And improved. They surpassed the skill GTR and f0rest were at when they left the scene. Thusly, they aren't amongst the three most skilled players of all time. I'm solely talking about skill. NEO for a greatest of all time is probably a fair statement. Unbelievable player through so many years.

Ave was one of the greatest in game leaders to ever grace the cs scene. Am not sure how good their aiming skills are but their ingame knowledge is superb compared to some of the so called super stars these days. CS:GO is a random game so i don't really expect anything but it will be fun to seem them play once again.

Well hate and negativity spawns more of the same, it's a downward spiral and to me it really began to take off after betting came along. So as of now the "normal" is just a negative, dumbing and hateful environment. When I see the abuse some (a lot actually!) of the pro players has to live with it makes me sick. It really does.

Rofl, mtw :D This is NOT the old MTW! MTW became insolvent a few years ago and some PR-guys bought the brand "MTW" out of the insolvency estatet 2 or 3 years ago! Then they tried a comeback in the german scene, but it didnt work. It became silent around MTW, and the operative "business" is run by a windy guy who talks a lot of bullshit, claiming that he bought mtw and he is CEO, but he was NOT (the PR guys, who own mtw, denied that but they still work together. nothing makes sense there and no "outsider" can exactly know what shit is going on there). This shit will have a fast end :D I dont know what mtw promised these players, but here is my thought: They promise them a lot and start a ponzi-sheme with the fame these old-stars have. They will try to collect as much sponsoring and #hype money, fill it in their own pockets and close/sell mtw again :D

People clearly fail to understand the amount of money that's available in CS:GO. Even as a top 15 team you make a lot of money. SK alone has made $41,671.57 according to esport earnings. Then comes salary, sponsor money and twitch earnings if they stream. As long as they reach top 10 mtw should be more than happy, in the same way that Hellraisers or Mousesports are going to dispand, just because they don't reach the top 3. With that mentality in place, 90% of tour de france riders might as well quit.

CSS was never better than 1.6. And to be fair looking back CSS never had an impact it killed an entire TV franchise and community and almost ruined 1.6 in nations where people are easily goaded into upgrading the same GAME.

Stop this fucking bullshit, we cant argue, when the proplayers started to play. Still both CS:S and CS 1.6 were good, but CS 1.6 is legendary still to this day. One of the big pieces of E-sports is from CS 1.6, you cannot argue with that, never.
