MLG Americas Minor group draw

The draw for the group stage of the Americas Championship has been made, with the participating teams having been placed into two groups.

The MLG Arena, in Columbus, Ohio, will stage from January 15-17 the Americas Minor Championship, where seven teams will square off for their piece of a $50,000 prize pool and a spot at the offline qualifier for the MLG Columbus major.

Brazilian duo Operation Kino and AlienTech are last-minute absentees after failing to obtain a visa. compLexity, who had secured one of the two invites for the event, have also withdrawn from the event, for reasons that remain unclear.

ShahZaM's OpTic will go to the group's Upper Bracket Final

North American duo Leader-1 and EZG have been added to the participants' list at the last second, which means that there will be one group of four teams and one of three.

The tournament sees the competing teams split into two double-elimination groups. The top two teams from each four-team group will advance to the single-elimination playoffs, which will be played in a best-of-three format.

Because of a people of a certain skin color. Won't say which one. Even places like Compton are decently nice now because it's almost 1/3 Korean. Imagining Compton 20 years ago with a Best Buy and a shopping mall would be a joke but now it's real. Mostly because people of a certain skin color (won't say which one) are getting pushed out.

As long as you don't do stupid shit, the police won't bother you. I live in South LA. People are friendly and it is a fairly nice neighborhood. Only problem are the shits that throw stuff away on the sideway. Other than that, LA is a pretty cool place.

SAO PAULO has not that much of favelas and its the less dangerous state in brazil..

not even worth watching any more, without the Brazilians, the 2nd best team and a bunch of premier squads. I was rly looking forward to this event, now im not sure that im gonna even watch it :(.

What a waste of a tournament. Just do a group between Optic, Enemy and Winterfox and the winner qualifies.

MLG idiots organizers didnt though about making qualifiers way before the tournament so south america teams figure out visa problems, like they made qualifiers 1 month before the tournament knowing that is harder to get visa aproved, even more on january

Aren't Keyd and Games Academy the best Brazilian teams after Luminosity? I've never even seen the name OperationKino and I've heard of AlienTech, but don't know much about them. Anyway they might put up a fight against Optic, but Optic should have this and should have even if those teams were there.

I believe so. LG > Keyd > AlienTech > GA. AlienTech is the ex-Keyd team (zqk and company) and the new Keyd is the ex-G3x (nak, bit and company)

Yes, but AlienTech don't train for the MAX5 (they have a little time to work, fbm and Lul4 take a problem to reach São Paulo) for me AlienTech (fbm, zakk, s1, zqk and lul4) have a great team to beat Keyd (bit, kNg, nak, destiny and mch). ps: Sorry for the Englando. =]

AlienTech beat Games Academy in MAX5. Keyd is better than AlienTech (i think) and OperationKino is ex-SITECS i guess. But they don't have chance against Optic. This is the qualifier for the Major qualifier, right?

It was a BO1 16-14 game though and even though Alien Tech won the head to head by 1 round Games Academy did better overall. I didn't watch much because it was on Azubu or something stupid like that, but just looking at the game GA had more rounds for and less rounds against in the group stages and tied Keyd when Alien Tech lost to pretty solidly against them. I didn't realize Alien Tech is ex-Keyd though. I guess Keyd, GA, and Alien Tech are all pretty close then.

Why bother making a South American minor then? The time wasted by those teams practicing, and all for nothing. People say that this should be played on Canada, but Canada isn't that easy to get a visa. Way easier than US (There is case of big bands that can't get the visa at last minute to US) but still not that much.

Luminosity are 'Legends' due to coming in top8 last major, so they get into the next one directly. Liquid, CLG and Cloud9 didn't make the playoffs in Cluj, but they're automatically invited to the main qualifier (end of February), as are the other 5 teams from the bottom 8.
