CEVO S9 Placement concludes

The CEVO Season 9 Placement tournaments for the Professional Division have concluded in both Europe and North America and ENCE, CG, Vault, and ex-AA have secured slots in all four of Season 9's single elimination brackets.

CEVO's ninth season saw the organisation team up with Gfinity to offer $125,000 finals in addition to a major overhaul to the structure of the season itself.

Instead of a regular league group stage format, the ninth season will feature four separate single-elimination brackets with 16 teams taking part in order to determine the four teams from each region that will qualify for the offline finals.

allu and ENCE have an assured spot in all the CEVO-P S9 brackets

Interestingly, the sprawling CEVO Season 9 Placement tournament which has taken place in both Europe and North America during the previous week offered up two permanent spots for each region in all four of these brackets, as advancing teams from each week mean that lower finishing teams from the Placement tournament will still have a chance to take part in the later brackets.

In Europe, it was Swedish team CG (who recently revamped their roster with two new Swedish talents) who trumped Aleksi "allu" Jalli's ENCE in the Upper Bracket final with a score of 2-1 and the Finns then themselves survived a consolidational final battle against DenDD with a score of 2-1.

The North American region saw teams who have generally gone unnoticed from the wider international eye have their chance to shine as Vault were first to qualify for CEVO-P Season 9 after taking down Phong "bee" Nguyen's Bee's Money Crew in the Upper Bracket final.

The consolidation final paired bee's Money Crew against the ex-Astral Authority lineup who had played for that organisation earlier in 2015 and it was the latter team who cruised through the game with a 2-0 scoreline.

The final standings from both Placement tournaments are therefore found below. These teams, starting with the top two finishers, will join invited teams from the first single elimination bracket onward to determine offline finalists for CEVO-P Season 9.

very true. EU qualifies had a few okay t2/t3 teams. All of the NA teams are t4/t5 lol. There isn't any good players among any of the 16 NA teams. Quite a few decent european teams didn't make it though :(

me 3. That explanation of the format for the pro season could use some work. It sounds to me like they have all 16 teams in 4 seperate single elimination brackets. They play out one bracket and the winner gets a lan spot. Then they play another 16 team single elimination bracket to determine the next team. Then repeat until they have done 16 team single elimination brackets 4 times and the winner of each bracket goes to lan?

so ENCE and CG have a spot in all of these brackets then? And rest will... qualify? Wat.

I think it is something like this: 1st 16 team single elim: 14 from last year + 2 from placement. 2nd single elim has the same teams as 1st, but without the winner of the 1st and with the 3rd place team from placement 3rd same as 2nd minus 2nd winner + 4th from placement 4th same as 3rd minus 3rd winner + 5th from placement. So even the 5th place team from placement gets to play, but they only get to play in one of the brackets.

Wait, where are the "good" T1-2 teams? Is there a division above this, or have teams just dropped CEVO completely?
