Cloud9 grab last major spot

Cloud9 have made it to another major after narrowly defeating Renegades 2-0 (de_mirage 16-14, de_cache 19-16).

The first two rounds of de_mirage were split between Renegades and Cloud9, with the latter starting as Counter-Terrorists and responding to a pistol loss with a strong message in the forcebuy.

That allowed them to take an early 4-1 lead before Yaman "yam" Ergenekon's double opening kill set Renegades up for 4-4 as Cloud9 tried to go on the agressive. Mike "shroud" Grzesiek then picked up an important double on the B bombsite for two rounds in the bag, but three kills from Justin "jks" Savage pulled it back to a one-round difference.

Another forcebuy victory, this time with much better equipment, shut down Renegades early as they conceded all remaining rounds, in the last of which shroud delivered a quick quad-kill in B halls.

shroud delivered another great performance on de_mirage

Three kills by Ryan "freakazoid" Abadir in their Terrorist-side pistol round put Cloud9 up on 13-5, but they couldn't close it out in the early stages. The Australians won eight of the following nine rounds easily, apart from a 1-on-1 clutch by jks, but a split A and an A smoke-off strategy versus a double-AWP setup won Cloud9 two of the last three rounds for 16-14.

Switching over to de_cache, Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham's quad-kill heroics were not enough to grab the initial pistol round, while Renegades secured two rounds as CT before dropping three in a row following the first gunround.

yam, Karlo "USTILO" Pivac and jks all delivered important plays in three out of four gunrounds afterwards, with the youngest winning a 1-on-3 in one of them. At 7-4 their agressive play backfired horribly as they met shroud in door, and freakazoid's triple in another round pushed the game to 7-7.

USTILO's lonesome triple on the A bombsite helped them get a one-round lead towards the end, which they immediately lost as the same player couldn't turn a close situation around in the pistol round.

USTILO has proven to be a good addition, but Renegades came up short in the end

Close battles ended up with the game sitting at a tie yet again, this time 10-10, as Australians pushed on for more, and got it, for 13-11. Agressive play in A main allowed freakazoid to open up the round, and combined with a great retake on the B bombsite Cloud9 clawed back to make it even once more.

What happened afterwards could only be described as craziness, as three gunrounds in a row it ended up with a player winning a crucial 1-on-2. jks, shroud and freakazoid all shined as the game went into overtime after a shoddy buy by RenegadesThere it was mostly all Cloud9 however, who put their foot down and won four out of five rounds to become the fourth North American team to advance to the MLG major.

North American counter strike is truly a sight to behold, never in my life have i seen a continent so commited, talented and skilled as the North American region. Winning back to back major titles every year and having 9 teams in the top 10, the only EU team in the top 10 being Fnatic from Sweden, NA having extremely talented and enthusiastic players such as Ryan 'FREAKAZOiD' Abadir' and Jake 'Stewie2k' Yip are just some of the greatest players ever to grace the game, nothing can stop the force that is NA CS:GO...

Im not a chinq btw Hong Kong is a city, and former British colony, in southeastern China. Vibrant and densely populated, it’s a major port and global financial center famed for its tower-studded skyline. It’s also known for its lively food scene – from Cantonese dim sum to extravagant high tea – and its shopping, with options spanning chaotic Temple Street Night Market to the city’s innumerable bespoke tailors. Im hong konger

I think it is fair to say that any time who made it to the majors deserves to be there. As to what theyre going to do when they arrive? Im going to say LG, Fnatic, or NAVI, ftw. If we make it out of groups at all I will be personally be very stoked.

I'm just excited that 4 teams in a major shows people that NA has the talent to make a top team, it's just that the talent is so spread out...which means each team isn't really good enough imo to make it out of groups. Maybe Liquid if they peak, but c9 too inconsistent, clg not strong enough, and splyce for obvious reasons.

I meant Cologne: hltv.org/match/2297439-cloud9-mousesport.. Also, c9 knocked mouz out of qualifiers for major in order to make major at Katowice. With fucking Shahzam. lol. hltv.org/match/2294227-cloud9-mousesport.. And mouz didnt make it out of groups at Cologne or Cluj. So let's review. Katowice: c9 qualifies for major over mouz. Mouz doesnt qualify. Cologne, c9 knocks mouz out of groups, mouz nor c9 make it out of groups Cluj: Neither c9 nor mouz make it out of groups. I thought German CS was better?? Mouz won EPS Germany and no american team is ever gonna win that tournament. #rekt btw just as a comparison Germany has 80 million inhabitants and i think the us+ friendly us have about 350 million, should be about correct

should be ez for Germany then if Australia which has 23 million people can have two teams make a major but Germany only makes major with one team... and congrats. Mouz won a lan with only 4 teams in it. ROFL.

I think all 4 pass group stages. Liquid because s1mple and adreN carry. CLG be ause they always get lucky and will have a easy group. C9 because yung stew lan god carry. Splyce for obvious reasons.

Well, moving to NA , got really good condedition's to play in, you didnt qualify for Katowiche? You didnt qualify for Malmo , and now you dont qualify MLG Colombus? Time to wake up... They had better results when they were living in Australia and travelig over seas...

About Renegades it's hard to tell like they said in the analyst desk. Ustilo change was good but they still lack firepower I feel. You can't really replace SpunJ cause even if he's not fragging that good no one in australia is good enough for the IGL role. I feel like going into a team house has damaged them more than helped them but not sure. I think with fresh motivation they can beat these teams cause c9 wasn't particularly great at all

Good work C9. Surprisingly enough, I think C9 can make it out of groups. Their CT sides are great. If they can get an IGL/coach to improve their T side execututes and teamwork, they could be dangerous all around. They have the entry power of Stewie and Freak, and two of the best CT players in the world with shroud and Ska. Also Stewie's secondary AWPing was pretty good, but I'm not sure if he will continue to take that role. With VP, NiP, FaZe, and Astralis slumping, Dignitas not in attendance, etc. they could pull off an upset in bracket and makes it out of groups. There are a lot of things that need to go right; a good coach, stewie/shroud/Ska showing up, and a good group draw, but it's not completely out of the picture for them to make it to the playoffs. A lot can happen in a month.
