Winterfox bring in hades; desi out

Winterfox have effected a roster change by bringing in Warren 'hades' Rettich in lieu of Derek 'desi' Branchen.

Winterfox originally began as a project that included Swedish players Jacob "⁠pyth⁠" Mourujärvi and Jonatan "⁠Devilwalk⁠" Lundberg and much of the ex-Luminosity/Mythic lineup back in 2015, however extenuating circumstances meant that the organisation brought in Kyle "⁠flowsicK⁠" Mendez and Derek "⁠desi⁠" Branchen to fill out the roster instead.

The team had a series of middling offline results afterwards, such as 7-8th place at the iBUYPOWER Cup, 7-8th place at the RGN Pro Series Championship, and perhaps most notably a failed Major qualification campaign at the Americas Minor (finishing in 3-4th place).

hades steps in as Winterfox's fifth

Winterfox did manage to survive relegation in the second season of the ESL Pro League however and the team look likely to retain their spot in the Pro League for the fourth season as they are currently 7-11 in the standings (8th), and are poised to avoid the relegation battle that will be slated for the bottom three teams.

The abovementioned lack of results, in addition to an inability to create "a strong chemistry within the team," have led the Winterfox organisation to announce that desi has left the team in a decision that was apparently mutual.

Winterfox struggled to achieve results in late 2015/early 2016

Winterfox have turned to the services of Warren "⁠hades⁠" Rettich, a player somewhat notorious for having had stints on various and sundry North American lineups, but who was last seen playing on the short-lived Denial lineup (which imploded after losing Shawn "⁠witmer⁠" Taylor to compLexity in March) and before that on a different SKDC lineup.

Winterfox's lineup is now:

Alexander "⁠LeX⁠" Deily
David "⁠Xp3⁠" Garrido
Todd "⁠anger⁠" Williams
Kyle "⁠flowsicK⁠" Mendez
Warren "⁠hades⁠" Rettich

This roster change reunites hades with LeX and anger, both old teammates from the Mythic lineup that gained prominence in early 2015. hades has also announced on Twitter that he will shortly be moving in to the Winterfox team house in the Chicago area.

Hades is one of the better IGL's left in N.A. He may not have the fragging power of someone like desi but he is pretty well known for getting the most out of the players he has. Anger for instance is an absolute fragging machine but was constantly up and down, I would be willing to bet that with Hades as the IGL you will see a lot more consistency out of him and a lot better performances from the entire rest of the lineup. Great move, looking forward to the improvements
