mouz and Gambit keep clean sheets

The last two matches in Katowice have concluded closing out day two of the ESL One Cologne 2016 Major Qualifier, with mousesports beating Cloud9, 16 – 12 on Mirage, and Gambit also getting a win at EnVyUs’s expense, 16 – 10 on Cobblestone, to keep a clean sheet.

Cloud9 won the terrorist side pistol to get themselves a quick lead on the scoreboard, and were able to capitalize on the first anti-eco as well. When the game resumed after a technical pause, Cloud9 picked up the third round cleanly.

MOUZ started winning rounds once they were equipped, once again casting a shadow over North American terrorist sides—particularly on Mirage. A three kill round by Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham put the fourth round on the board for the American team, but MOUZ quickly put an end to that by winning the following round and resetting Cloud9’s economy.

Cloud9 took a tactical pause when down 7 – 4, as MOUZ were asserting dominance and holding down the sites without issues, giving up only three deaths in three rounds. The timeout didn’t seem to pay dividends as MOUZ kept rolling over the Americans after the match was restarted taking every round for an 11 – 4 half.

mousesports were able to power through

Cloud9 kept the dream alive winning the second pistol round of the game and the following two rounds. The first buy round went to the wire, with Jake "Stewie2K" Yip and Mike "shroud" Grzesiek turning a 2 vs. 3 after plant situation on its head taking all three MOUZ players down and defusing the bomb.

Cloud9 put together a decent comeback and got within one point of MOUZ, 11 – 12. MOUZ then looked for that last bit of fuel in the tank and powered through the late game, closing the match out 12 – 16.

The last match of the night pit Gambit with tournament favorites Envy. The Russian side would be the team to run away with a quick lead after Mihail "Dosia" Stolyarov and Rustem "mou" Telepov cleaned house during the pistol round.

Envy broke a five round lead in fashion, winning a pistol buy round and following it up with another round won after an execute on A to force Gambit into an eco. With the score sitting at 5 – 3. Gambit were able to cut Envy’s momentum and win two more rounds.

With 8 – 4 on the board for the Russian side, Ivan "spaze" Obrezhan and Timothée "DEVIL" Démolon got into a stand-off as both new additions tried to outplay each other on the A bomb site, with spaze holding connector close to doors and DEVIL defending on site after planting the bomb. It was finally DEVIL who peaked and took out spaze’s head with a quick shot from his p250.

After trading a couple rounds before the half, the score would end up being 9 – 6 in favor of Gambit going into the break in the game and the teams changing sides. Rush B was called by the CIS side on the pistol round, although mou ended up going around the back through connector and into A site, where he was picked off by Dan "apEX" Madesclaire after planting, therefore giving up the round to the French team.

mou led the charge for Gambit

The French team would quickly find themselves against the ropes, however, as a force buy from the Russian side on the second round of the half gave them the round, and Gambit then went on a roll winning round after round before Envy called a timeout with 13 – 7 on the board.

The first round after the timeout seemed to go Envy’s way, as they traded three kills for one loss. Dmitry "hooch" Bogdanov had a different plan in mind, though, and Uncle Mitya managed to get two kills, plant, and win a 1 vs. 1 against Kenny "kennyS" Schrub to give his team seven match points.

Envy won the first of Gambit’s match points, and it looked as if though the match were going to end on the next one. This time it was DEVIL coming in with the clutch, stopping mou from reaching A site with a shot from a mag7, switching to an AK and killing spaze as he attempted to enter the site from connector.

It would only be a couple rounds later when the inevitable crystalized and the Russian side claimed the victory, 16 – 10, advancing from the match unscathed with a pristine 2 – 0 score into tomorrow’s matches.

Expected from Germans, Gambit's story wasn't as clear, first Waylander dropping 30 bombs and kicking out Envy from MLG, now Mou with 30+ frags denying frenchman victory again, what a performance from him, and that Hooch clutch was 10 out 10, he completely out played Apex and KennyS, tremendous play to get to match point! Now really going to look for GAmbit vs FaZe, they sure are in a shape to qualify with the perfect score of 3-0, though FaZe not going to miss as many shots as KennyS and Devil missed today.

Can you remember when it happened score wise? I missed the match and a friend of mine also mentioned that. I don't have the time to watch the whole VOD.
