Slemmy to exit C9 roster - Report

Alec "Slemmy" White will step down from Cloud9's active lineup, according to a report from ESPN.

The 25-year-old, formerly of SKDC and Obey Alliance, joined the team in April following the departure of Ryan "⁠freakazoid⁠" Abadir and took over as ingame leader, a role that had been carried out by Jordan "⁠n0thing⁠" Gilbert since the departure of Sean "⁠seang@res⁠" Gares.

Despite some improvements to their strategies, Cloud9's woes continued, and the final straw came in June, when the team failed to qualify for ESL One Cologne following defeats to mousesports, EnVyUs and G2.

With ELEAGUE now in rearview mirror, Cloud9 are starting to plan for the tournament season ahead, and they have reportedly been asking "fellow professional players for advice" as to whom should replace Alec "⁠Slemmy⁠" White on the roster.

Moreover, it is believed that Slemmy could become Cloud9's coach, replacing Andrew "⁠Irukandji⁠" Timmerman, who did not travel with the team to Atlanta for the ELEAGUE playoffs.

The report comes just 24 hours after Cloud9 parted ways with longtime manager Tres "⁠stunna⁠" Saranthus, who will be "moving on to pursue other opportunities within the esports industry", according to a statement from the North American organisation.

With Slemmy's departure, Cloud9 will be left with the following quartet:

Lol, I sort of thought the same thing. And yes, Summit has played at a pro level. He also seems like a rad guy to have on your team (Positive, willing to learn while playing with other pros, solid aim, etc.) But he probably can't produce the immediate results the org is looking for. I would not be surprised if they brought in outside the US Talent. Unless they buy someone out of their contract locally, there really aren't many options out there.

Slemmy is an all around better player than Summit yes. I think Summit has alot of potential though and honestly, I think his aim is better. Slemmy is far better at reading situations, calling (Obviously), and his CT side is pretty decent. His t side strats were atrocious though.

Some players worse than him try hard to get til the end of their contracts to get as much as money as possible (i know contracts should be respected, but some players keep getting months and months of salaries not playing like Maikelele). Yeah he played against shitty NA teams at a tier 3 NA event how impressive for him. C9 need a good IGL who can get their shitty puggers some strategical gameplay and motivation to want to get better at the game.

Edit: Surely playing good against these tier 2-3 teams means he could help C9 beat SK, Na'vi, Fnatic, G2 and all the rest of the tier 1s, nice logic.

100% sure of this. C9 Without training could beat these teams, I Wouldn't surprise at all if reaches final stages in major tournaments IGL = no skill most of the time. You can see how improved the performance of fnatic, mouz and g2 without pronax, gob b and Ex6TenZ The big problem with c9 was always the 5th player who does not have the quality to be in a tier1 team as was freakazoid, seangares now bot slemmy

They need a good rifler that can mid game. Adren is going to be brought on as the coach. Their best option bar none is Glaive from ex-sk Other Options: Ex6tenz (Likely already signed with NV in place of Devil) Maikalele (admittedly not a good rifler but, was pretty decent mid gaming for Faze) Disco Doplan (Great upcoming rifling talent, Adren would be given IGL role) Brehze (Rising talent within NA, again IGL role given to Adren) Judging by C9's (the org) tendencies when it comes to their Csgo roster, most likely they will sign another upcoming talent in NA, someone like Brehze to a contract that ends in december. If he turns out to be a good player on the international scene like stewie, they will keep him. If not, they will sign Tarik. Two things for sure though, adren won't be a player, and desi isn't an option for the same reasons no other teams pick him up.

(Not listing twistzz or SicK here because there's no way TSM would let either of them go). With a solid dependable fragger type player this C9 roster would be scary as fuck (assuming slemmy goes to coach).. Just imagine Shroud Ska n0thing Stewie all playing solid, plus a 5th that is also keeping up with them and not doing 45 ADR like slemdog.
