Grt named CLG coach

CLG have announced that Garett "Grt" Bambrough will be the new coach of their CS:GO team.

The 29-year-old will take over from Faruk "⁠pita⁠" Pita, who left the team after ELEAGUE, citing his wish to return to Europe to be closer to his family.

Garett "⁠Grt⁠" Bambrough played for a series of top 1.6 North American teams, including Green Berets, Evil Geniuses and Area 51, and also plied his trade for Chicago Chimera and San Francisco Optx during the Championship Gaming Series (CGS).

Grt joins CLG as coach

He has a considerable coaching experience, having guided 3sUP and more recently Splyce, who qualified for the MLG Columbus Major under his tutelage.

"I am grateful and excited at the opportunity to coach for Counter Logic Gaming," he told CLG's website.

"Everyone has welcomed me with open arms and I look forward to helping lead the team through this rebuilding process.

"A lot of teams in North America have reloaded and strengthened recently and we look forward to revamping and competing with them at a top level."

Grt's arrival comes at a particular critical time for CLG's roster, which has been depleted to just three players following the departure of Tarik "⁠tarik⁠" Celik.

In a statement, CLG revealed that the new coach "has been working closely with the team already for the past two weeks to find the players best suited for long-term growth and development." Grt is also working with the management to find a player development coach as the organisation look to revamp their backroom staff.

GRT was the most successful Counter-Strike player in the CGS. Placed 1st w/ the Chimera and 2nd w/ the OPTX. In terms of North American coaches, he is probably the best available. Good signing.

Right now it's a roster without an identity. FugLy and Cutlers T-side role seemed to change monthly, and if JDM couldn't turn the round into a 5v4 early their T-side didn't really woo me.
