New CS:GO update released

A new CS:GO update has released and the primary area of interest is the continuing overhaul and fidelity improvement of weapon sounds, with tonight's update featuring changes to the starting pistols (Glock, HKP200, USP-S) and the Desert Eagle.

With Valve having already overhauled the sounds of all Heavy weapons and SMGs over the course of this summer (a process which started in an update in mid-June), it stands to follow that finally Rifles will be next on the sound block in terms of overhauling.

For those who are into cosmetics, the Gamma 2 Case has been added to the game and brings with it the usual array of colourful skins.

Finally, a new spectating feature has been added to the game, which will dim the X-Ray glow of players who are not making an audible sound, a change which should help viewers understand if a player has been heard while making noise.

• Added the Gamma 2 Case.

[SERVERS]

• Added official game servers in Peru.

[SPECTATOR]

• Player xray glow now dims when player is not making any audible sound. Several convars are available to tweak this behavior; “find spec_glow” for a list.

[MISC]

• Restored availability of cl_avatar_convert_rgb command used by tournament organizers.

[LINUX]

• Fix a bug where some users would have a bad mem_level set which would cause poor performance.

[SOUND]

• Increased fidelity and reduced distortion for fire sounds of the Glock, HKP2000, USP-S and Deagle.
• Unique distant, reload and draw sounds for Glock, HKP2000, USP-S and Deagle.
