Cloud9 ease past EnVyUs

Cloud9 have overcome EnVyUs on Cobblestone in the first match of group D.

It was from the get-go looking to be an uphill struggle for Envy as they had to play with a stand-in in the form of Christophe "⁠SIXER⁠" Xia, as Nathan "⁠NBK-⁠" Schmitt could not attend this event.

The Boys in Blue started out on the CT-side with an important pistol round win, though Cloud9 won the first gun round and started their own streak of ten rounds. Nothing spectacular from the American side, but the French defense was out of touch, even losing a 3v2 where they had bomb control.

Kenny "⁠kennyS⁠" Schrub's side managed to muster a fourth round, but ultimately ended up trailing 11-4 at halftime.

n0thing special today

A herculean task was ahead for Vincent "⁠Happy⁠" Schopenhauer and his soldiers and losing the Terrorist pistol round did not help matters, as Jake "⁠Stewie2K⁠" Yip and co. went up to 14-4.

It was do or die in the first gun round of the second half and thankfully for the Frenchmen they managed to win that with an explosive play on the A-site, giving them some breathing room and building their economy in the process.

The Americans apparently didn't need proper weaponry to reach match point, as a sloppy bomb defense was put up by Envy. An impressive AWP retake from Stewie2K sealed the deal for Cloud9, closing out the map 16-8.

Next up in group D Virtus.pro will face off against VG.CyberZen at 17:30 to find out who will play against Cloud9 in the winners match and who will be Envy's opponent in the losers match.

It's ok he drops 120 ADR per game online and helps them qualify for the lans.. then goes back down to being a 60 ADR support player on lan that has to be carried by the other 4.

ya know im a c9 fanboy hands down.... but I also know evnyus is going through a very rough internal team patch, which is why I won't celebrate this as a win. Individual I stil think envyus should have won, they are individually better than c9 players. All this really does is show how deep their issues are if you ask me.
