EnVyUs eliminate VP in Group D

EnVyUs eliminated Virtus.pro in last place with a 16-8 victory on Cobblestone, as they move on to the Group D decider where they'll meet the loser of VG.CyberZen versus Cloud9 at the end of the day.

As both teams lost their initial matches — Envy falling to Cloud9 yesterday while Virtus.pro were on the receiving end of another Chinese upset earlier today —, the two met in Group D's elimination match on Cobblestone.

The beginning of the map saw Envy taking a 5-0 lead as Terrorists due to winning the pistol and the first gunround on the back of Kenny "⁠kennyS⁠" Schrub's four AWP kills. The next couple of rounds were exchanged, but the Poles were still able to buy and grab two more for 3-6.

apEX put on a show against the Poles

With Dan "⁠apEX⁠" Madesclaire leading the charge, the Frenchmen snatched all remaining rounds for a decisive 12-3 half. The 23-year-old put on a show in the second pistol round as well, adding an ace to his name including a 1v4 clutch.

Wiktor "⁠TaZ⁠" Wojtas's squad replied with the forcebuy and strung four more rounds together, but Vincent "⁠Happy⁠" Schopenhauer's 1v2 clutch at 13-8 pushed his team ever so close to victory. apEX's MAG-7 triple secured match point for Envy, who eliminated Virtus.pro when Christophe "⁠SIXER⁠" Xia won a 1v1 for 16-8.

This game was pure cancer. So much luckily won rounds but this baguettes and apEX so blatant but VP would've never ever won against them. They were the whole day awful on their best 2 Maps.....

No, that's not what I'm saying. All I'm saying is that beating VP is not some sort of measure if your team is good or not. VP can play absolutely terrible, and they can stomp and win tournaments. Today I think they played terribly. EnVy played really good to, so not taking anything away from them.
