ANOX, LDLC and LGR qualify for ESWC

The first West European, East European and Scandinavian qualifiers for ESWC 2016 have been held this weekend with ANOX, Team LDLC and LGR securing LAN spots.

With some of the single nation qualifiers already held, the time for the biggest open ESWC qualifiers has arrived. For this purpose, Europe has been split into three qualifying regions: South and East Europe, West Europe and Scandinavia.

In yesterday's qualifier LDLC beat Red Instinct in the grand final to secure their ESWC slot - even though they surprisingly lost to the organization's academy team called Red Instinct RS in the French qualifier earlier this month.

Ex6TenZ's LDLC qualified through the West Europe Qualifier

The Scandinavian qualifier saw two Finnish teams in the grand final, with LGR prevailing over SkitLite in the end. Teams such as Epiphany Bolt and DenDD had solid placings as well, but will have to wait for the second qualifier for another chance

Kinguin, Preparation and Spirit competed in the East and South Europe qualifier, but it was ANOX that secured the ESWC spot after defeating Tengri in the grand final.

With these results, the following teams have secured spots for ESWC 2016:

South Africa Bravado  France Red Instinct RS
Bulgaria Bpro  Europe LDLC
World ANOX Finland LGR

The qualifying action will continue soon with the second series of regional qualifiers as well as national qualifiers for Portugal, Iran, Benelux and India.

Why should it always be a T1/2 tournament. Those teams does also deserve to play for a solid prizepool.

"E-Sports World Championship" or is it world cup? Either way, it implies the best are going to be competing. It just doesn't happen anymore at eswc.

Name has changed, it's E-sports World Convention. They realise it was a bit edgy to call it a world cup in addition to what other orgs/tournament kinda complain about it

It has been bought though by WEBEDIA, a big company that has bought many Key French Esport organisation, this year is a transition for ESWC, once again we will have a entertaining event at PGW with t3-t4 teams but it's most likely to be very different next year imo :)

Lambert was the 5th player in Red Instinct Rising Stars (instead of Storen) when they won their ESWC slot in the ESWC.fr final in LAN (final 16-6 16-2 vs Millenium and semi final vs LDLC 9-16 16-4 16-7).
