iBP Masters to serve as Oakland qual.

ESL have revealed a partnership with iBUYPOWER, whose $100,000 Masters event taking place from November 12-13 will serve as an offline qualifier for IEM Oakland.

Eight teams will be featured at iBUYPOWER Masters, which will take place at The Hangar located at Orange County fairgrounds in Costa Mesa, California.

The event will be run in partnership with ESL and will serve as an offline qualifier for the following weekend's IEM Oakland, as there will also be four spots up for grabs for the 12-team, $300,000 event.

The Hangar will play host to iBUYPOWER Masters

iBUYPOWER Masters' eight teams will be spread into two GSL groups, with top two sides securing a place at IEM Oakland. First-placed teams will then battle it out in the grand final.

So far neither party has announced which teams will take part in iBUYPOWER Masters, but they're expected to be revealed soon.

The remaining eight teams for IEM Oakland, running from November 19-20, have already been released, with the list looking as follows:

Better yet? For $300,000... make it 32 teams; seeded, B03 single-elimination. 8 groups of 4. Winner of each group goes to playoffs. Top 8 teams head each group, playing the weakest opponent first. This still guarantees even the weakest teams of at least 2 maps, and removes the B01 mess.

That's true. I'll bet Renegades and Immortals get an invite, though. At this moment in time I have to think they're going to provide an opportunity for teams like Cloud9, Optic, and Echo Fox an opportunity to play in a $300k tournament on US soil with US donors.

Their opportunity to play in Oakland will be dependent on how well they do at the iBP Masters lan.. did you read the article? There aren't any more invites being sent out for IEM Oakland; it's literally going to be the top four teams from iBP Masters getting qualified spots for Oakland. Unless you were talking about all of those teams being invited to iBP Masters and not IEM Oakland, then that'd make sense lol.

So the top four of the IBP invitational get to go to Oakland, right? So if there are 8 teams invited half of them are going to Oakland, and previously IBP Inv has been mostly NA teams, there's potential to see a lot of NA CS at Oakland Kappa
