Natus Vincere win ESL One New York

Natus Vincere win ESL One New York over Virtus.pro following a nail-biting finish to the grand final (2-1; Cobblestone 3-16, Train 16-8, Mirage 19-17).

Virtus.pro kicked off the ESL One New York grand final in style. Paweł "byali" Bieliński began their Terrorist half on Cobblestone by grabbing four kills and a 1v1 clutch in the pistol, and another clutch came from Filip "NEO" Kubski in round six for a flying 6-0 start.

Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács's triple in a low buy gave Na`Vi their first round, but then it was Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski to shut down the opposition with a stunning 1v3 triumph, as Virtus.pro continued dominating the half with explosive executes that would make Alfred Nobel proud.

Natus Vincere's already slim chances went up in flames after Snax pulled off another shocking clutch, that time around an all-headshot 1v4 in the second pistol round. The CIS-based team managed to win the next forcebuy, although Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas put up one more 1v3 afterwards to secure map one in stunningly dominating fashion at 16-3.

Snax gave us one of the most memorable plays of 2016

Accepting the huge loss on map one, Natus Vincere showed a formidable Terrorist performance on Train, grabbing a 5-1 lead early on. VP looked lost on the defence, as they dropped another gunround and elected to force up under the pressure, but nothing worked and Na`Vi went on to grab five more consecutive rounds.

The last four rounds were split evenly between the two due to the Poles winning a shoddy forcebuy for a 12-3 half in favour of Denis "seized" Kostin's squad. Falling short in the pistol round, VP still had some life left in them, as byali's quad with a deagle allowed his team to go up to 6-13.

Once Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev gave his opponents a taste of their own medicine with a fantastic 1v4 clutch in a forcebuy, the map was nearly over as Natus Vincere closed Train out at 16-8 thanks to opening kills from GuardiaN in the last two rounds.

Mirage decided it all and it was Na`Vi to get up to a quick 4-1 lead as CT at the beginning. Their economy got reset shortly afterwards however, and once more when the next two gunrounds were traded as VP grabbed their first lead on the last map.

s1mple's display on the second half of Mirage gave Na`Vi several crucial rounds

The last three rounds of the first half went back and forth, but the Poles still went over with a one-round lead. That lead was soon lost following Na`Vi's comfortable pistol round win.

s1mple's plays turned three close rounds around, putting his team in a great position to snatch the title away from Virtus.pro. The Poles were in another advantageous situation at 8-13, although that time GuardiaN was the one to step up to the plate to win a fantastic 1v3 clutch.

The Polish players finally stepped up with individual plays to get on the board and survive several more rounds, clawing back to an even 14-14. At that point Na`Vi broke the streak to reach match point and Ioann "Edward" Sukhariev nearly finished it off with a 1v3, but Jarosław "pashaBiceps" Jarząbkowski saved the day in the end and took the game to overtime.

Edward and s1mple then turned another unfavorable situation around, while TaZ won a 1v2 in the following round before VP got a 2-1 half to their name. The exciting plays didn't stop there as GuardiaN provided another triple to make it even once more, helping Na`Vi grab the title just two rounds afterwards at 19-17.

Once again, while Team Liquid make it big in a notable event, you have shroud streaming World of Warcraft while at home. And yet, some people still think C9 is better than Team Liquid ecks dee. I knew Na'Vi would win. The SK era is over. It's the Na'Vi era now. And this is just the beginning for the CIS team. There are still things that need working on, just like Liquid still have things that need to be worked on. 2017 is going to be a really exciting year for NA CS and the CIS region.

Great game and tournament, 2 of the 5 best series in 2016 played here! (SK vs VP and VP/Na'Vi) Too bad for VP, I wanted them to win after beating SK with such fashion but they sadly slacked in Mirage in some rounds, I feel like they are so confident in Mirage that they don't practise it as much when other teams have clearly showed they've catched up to them. Oh well playing all day probably didn't help them but you have to win no matter what, wp to Na'Vi.

VP looked better than Navi and SK on Mirage but the couldn't complete them to Win in regulation by losing so silly rounds ffs. And in OT especially vs NaVi they looked really tired probably

yeah VP played better, they lost both pistols on Mirage and they still could have won 16:14 in regulation. Several big mistakes in those pistols and also when 14:14 cost them the map. Still I think they are the best on the map but they don't perform with that high level and consistently as they used to, also other teams got better at the map. Sad because yes, that 3rd map defeat was definitely on them

But they didnt lost because they became so cocky or other Teams Became better they lost as you said because they didnt win a pistol round and made some silly mistakes but nothing that you can give the fault of the Map how good they play. And as you said they didnt perform with the high level that was the reason why the mistakes came and they were really exhausted probably from the Semi Finals.

VP really deserved to win the tournament they played better :-( But the longer the match went, some "feeling came up that NaVi will win" they simply looked fresher than VP obviously and I am proud that my second favourite Team won :-) But I wish that VP would've won it :-(

VP didn't deserve shit. If they want a tropy, they have to earn it. Simple as that. There is no such thing as "X deserves Y" - you either win, or don't. Simple doesn't deserve shit either. The fuck is this - kindergarten? So many pussies saying "simple deserved this (especially that it was his Bday". He wants a trophy - he needs to win it. You can keep getting to finales, and keep losing. That only means they were good enough to get there, but not good enough to get first prize. Work harder and beat enemy next time.

Of course VP did deserve it as much as NaVi did deserve. Analyst desk said that VP played better which they did but sometimes that doesnt help you to win as you've seen. NaVi had the fresher mind and the Will to win a bigger event! I would love to see how NaVi would've played in the final after such a long sick fight vs SK and a shorter break.

VP losing both pistols definitely cost them the map, they could have easily won if only they would have won one. The other factor was Byali and Neo not showing up.

yep, I'm talking about Mirage which was not only the key map but the closest one where everyone is needed. I know he played great in the other maps but those were one-sided maps. Byali is still known for, with few exceptions, godlike performances along with Snax when the Plow is activated but you always felt he lacked the consistency of Snax or the others when things weren't going VP's way. In a Bo3, he always showed up at least in that one map and I remember a lot of the times it was Mirage, he is known for his performance in that map so that's why it's a surprise. Still better performance tha in Cologne and similar to MLG, being 2d best performer in the team again which is so important for VP. So overall great event for him but it'll always be secondary if they don't manage to win these big events...

The finale was strange. Plow in favour of VP, plow in favour of NaVi, and then head to head on third map + OT. Certain plays by VP looked strange. I don't know if that's them being exhausted, but I would not be surprised if the whole thing was rigged if favour of Liquid (semifinal pairs)/ NaVi (in finale). Drama has to happen and this attracts audience, this in terms means more money for companies. So much for competitive spirit. The game looked fake as hell on Mirage - as if VP hesitated or stopped pushing on purpose. Certain peeks didn't make sense either. I call this finale bullshit, and I would call it bs if SK was there and lost in similar fashion. NaVi just don't have the spirit and teamplay to beat SK/VP. Fuck fake CS. Keep watching rigged plays.

There is no proof. I'm just one guy who is annoyed by bullshit organization. No team should play finale "right after" extremely exhausting semi-finals. You could see VP were dog-tired. SK would be too. Any team would be. NaVi was fresh and relaxed. So much for fair game. I am 100% sure VP would take finale in 2-0 fashion if they were fresh right before finale. Whoever plays in any event finale should not be put under such stress. That is guaranteed less chance for a "tired" team.

So amazingly happy for NaVi, what a legendary MENTAL comeback from a devastating 3:16 loss on 1st map to win the even in the overtime of the last map... GG clips.twitch.tv/esl_csgo/DifficultChough.. Zeus is happy, but is sad that he was not part of those emotions at the same time... twitter.com/navizeus4444/status/78293464.. gg

Nice to see Na'Vi win something. But I'd rather see VP win this. Anyhow, let's hope Na'Vi can keep performing for once. Edit: Ah, Na'vi Looked so happy :) Very noice!

Not salty or anything, but if the grand final had been played on another day, we might've had a different outcome. VP had just played a 4 hour long intense match against SK, while Na'Vi had a nice 4 hour long break.
