EnVyUs take the lead in the first day of matches in Group B, winning both of their duels against ALTERNATE aTTaX and fish123 despite playing a rough brand of CS, while Astralis and dd both win their only matches of the day.
The dd vs. fish123 and Envy vs. ALTERNATE aTTaX kicked the Group B matches off. After the veto, both matches ended up with Dust2 as the last map standing, something that could have been expected with a team hailing from the Francophonie in each server.
The Belgian side started out strong in their matchup vs. fish123, but a force buy second round fueled by Brandon "weber" Weber’s two early round scout picks put the British side on the upper hand. Both teams traded rounds in the first part of the first half until fish123 were finally able to make the most of their terrorist side by winning the last five rounds to bag a total of ten before switching sides. The Belgians, however, didn’t give up, and were able to grind their way to 15 – 15 to take the match into overtime where they finally won it without dropping a round, 19 – 15.

On the other stream, it was Envy coming out with guns blazing as the French side took their CT side without missing a beat, giving up only three rounds in the whole half. Three headshots by Oliver "kzy" Heck in the second half pistol round delayed ALTERNATE aTTaX’s ultimate demise, but the French side were able to close it out 16 – 5.

The second two matches pitted Envy and fish123 on one side, and ALTERNATE aTTaX against the Danes of Astralis on the other. The French and the British ended up on Cobblestone, while ALTERNATE aTTaX and Astralis played yet another Dust2.

The French side started the map off with a big pistol win, but were unable to follow up on the second round. fish123 and Envy then traded rounds until the former were able to string a few rounds together and run away with the lead at the half, 9 – 6. That margin wasn’t enough, however, as Envy were easily able to break the fish123 defenses winning 10 out of the 13 rounds played in the second half to take home the victory.

On the other stream, Astralis and ALTERNATE aTTaX started their match marred by delays as the Envy vs. fish123match ended. The German side took a quick 3 – 1 lead on the terrorist side before more technical issues paused the game even further. As the game resumed, so did ALTERNATE aTTaX’s stacking of rounds until Astralis were able to put a stop to it at 2 – 5. The Danes then brought it back to 6 – 6, but were unable to completely turn it around, trailing 7 – 8 at the half. Astralis took the lead early on after switching sides and stayed one step ahead of ALTERNATE aTTaX the rest of the way to close out the match 12 – 16.
