oskar explains mouz benching

Tomáš "oskar" Šťastný has released a lengthy statement on Facebook, explaining his reasoning behind stepping down from mousesports.

Earlier this week, MOUZ left the scene befuddled as Tomáš "oskar" Šťastný stepped down from the active roster due to unspecified personal issues.

oskar explains his decision to step down from mousesports

On Saturday, the team found a permanent replacement for the Czech, as Christian "loWel" Garcia Antoran was transferred from PENTA to MOUZ, leaving little room for a possibility of the 25-year-old's return.

oskar has just released a lengthy statement explaining his side of the move:

"As you know, I decided to take a break from playing for mousesports.

I'm sorry that it turned out the way it did. When I joined and we began practising, I already felt there was something wrong and that I'm missing something in the team. I knew all the players, except for Spiidi, so I thought it was going to be a good bunch of guys, that the time spent with them wouldn't be for nothing and that we'd succeed. However, from the get go I felt I couldn't endure the practice regimen and what the others expected of me, which you might have noticed in my performance. I didn't play to the level that was expected of me, I couldn't find myself in the game and I fell into a depressing level, so I saw myself slowing down the team.

During our trip back to the hotel from the Gfinity venue, I was thinking and preparing what I'd say and how fast I'd make my decision, because we had a lot of tournaments ahead of us. When we arrived at the hotel, we sat down and began discussing the event. Not one word was said about my performance, the players probably knew I could play much better and that something was wrong. And it was, I couldn't focus on the game because I doubted myself. After exchanging our opinions and some heated discussion, I came to the conclusion that I wouldn't continue playing with them and slow them down in preparations for upcoming tournaments.

It's obviously a big risk, there might not come a time when mousesports are interested in playing with me in 2017, there might not be a team interested in me so much so that they'd buy me out.I sacrificed so much in my life to the game that I wouldn't have a problem with playing 12 hours a day, 6 days a week if I felt good in the team. Unfortunately, I'm not 20 anymore and right now I really didn't feel up to it. Wrong place, wrong time.

You know the main reasons. Nobody died in my family, it doesn't have anything to do with my loved ones, everyone understands it and respect my job, I wasn't influenced by anyone. It was only my personal issue and my decision. I don't want to go into internal team matters, so we'll leave it at that. I still have time to prove that I'm a top-tier player and that I can be professional. Now, I have time to practise my English and improve it. Those of you who like my humour can look forward to me streaming and playing FPL. We'll begin again from zero.

P.S.: For those of you who think I quit because I was cheating or because I'm toxic, you're crazy. I've never cheated and I'm only toxic on my stream, because everything is lagging. lul"

small suggestion on this perhaps: is it possible to make the main post (for example, this blog) count as #1, and then the first user-written reaction count as #2? maybe that would give people less incentive to hunt for #1 post

You must be joking if you don't understand what you're doing wrong. Everyone who hunts for top comments stalks the site constantly for new news, and then quickly comments random letters like "asd, aaa" etc etc. It has nothing to do with the actual story and proves that you're there only for the top comment. (Edit: forgot to mention they always edit the post to make it look better xD)

Not sure about that, every top team already made their changes over the end of summer. I don't see how he would join some tier2 team worse than HR. Unless he will be in beast mode in the second quarter of next year, this might as well be the end of his career, he is ont young.

But its very sad because that way of thinking holds him back. And maybe he did not perform because of the very same reasons, and then got into a downwards spiral of more taking pressure on himself and getting worse performances.

he complained about praticing schedule, like come on if you don't want to pratice how can you adjust to your teammates, or improve as a team. I'm sure niko is a strict mofo but being a god tier player and not accomplishing anything in his prime must be sad and revolting.

To many people this might seem like a negative move for him and show him as unprofessional, however I would say the opposite, he recognized that he is not going to be the player he was expected to be and he would not be able to be that player so he stepped down. He is taking a great risk for the benefit of mouz. He's going to come back better as a person and player.

Not being "good enough" after what? Not even one month of playing with them? Lul. Shit makes zero sense, if he trully wanted to be a proffesional he would addres the problems that he had in the team a do everything he could have done to play better, which is after all his responsibility, like commiting to the practice hours. One would have tought that playing with niko would "cheer him up". It rather felt like he was feeling too much pressure to perform OR didnt believe in mouz succeeding in the first place(which makes 0 sense). God what a wasted talent and skill, I quess that my hope for Czech player succeeding is again, becoming unrealistic.

I quess, but not in terms of his CSGO career. Wasting year of time in your twenties in shitraisers to then retire (again...) after one month in a tier one potential team, seems like wasted time which isnt really the right choice. Using time to get back? get back to what? HR already signed contract with deadfox and there isnt really anyone to replace there. And playing in mouz seems rather impossible. Not sure if any team would want him after this fluke.

expected from poorlak with no brain. Can't understand that somethings are counter productive and there are better options then just forcing a top tier player into your practice regiment because it suits you, nobody will gain anything from this. The player forced will play like shit, the team atmosphere will get fucked. There were many alternatives to do it but now mouz will stay a overrated pile of dogshit.

xaxaxaxa, people think mouz is tier1? Mouz is a overrated pile of dogshit on life support because of niko. I'm blaming mouz on not looking for alternative ways to make it work out with oskar, i.e. have him coached, have a player psychologist, even not let him practice (aslong as he delivers in officials). That's how you work things out, not "come in our team and play 12hours of scrims" or whatever the fuck the practice schedule is. You could even practice with 4 and just let a coach just tell the defaults and smokes to oskar. Same shit with s1mple, TL poorly managed having one of the best players in the world and lost them, this is the same situation. Poorly managed, lose a top tier player. No bait.
2016-10-10 16:07

note i said "trying" not "are", they can sometimes beat tier 1 but aren't going to win anything, i know that. and it's not mouz's job to look for alternative ways to deal with a player that doesn't want to put forth the same effort that the rest of the team does. frankly, oskar doesn't deserve any special treatment just because he says meh, i don't want to practice. that's absolutely ridiculous to make the claim that he does. that's oskars job to be a professional, not the team's job to cater to his every whimsical need. and its not the same shit whatsoever with simple. simple moved halfway across the world to an entire different hemisphere, different culture, left his friends, family, and other loved ones at home, and is still really fricking young for that big of a lifestyle change outside of the game. i don't blame simple or liquid for that situation, it just simply didn't work out tldr: its ridiculous to claim that because a player didn't feel like putting in the work himself that the team should cater to his every need instead. and based on his first and only lan with the team, he wasn't worth any of that effort because he sucked, and that definitely wouldn't get any better IF HE DOESN"T PRACTICE WITH THE FUCKING TEAM. sorry for the long tldr

I don't think denis and good can fit in the same phrase but it depends on how you see the game being played. There are players that are only good in support roles but imo denis is subpar compared to other support players.

I respect this move He noticed he wasn't the one to practise 12 hours a day and really grind as a team. Instead of milking it out; slowing the team down, he got up and made room for someone that is down to grind hard.

What? He signs a contract, they invest in him and than he notice that he isnt the guy for hard work and he leaves the 4 other ppl fucked up? And at the end of the statement, he talks about moving on in PROFESSIONAL business? How can you pay respect for this move? Whats honorable or professional?

Learn to read - "I sacrificed so much in my life to the game that I wouldn't have a problem with playing 12 hours a day, 6 days a week if I felt good in the team." Obviously they pushed him into a position when he wasnt feeling comfortable at all. What would you do in a case when somebody basically said to you "stand right here and carry", something you never really did well? He was able to stand strong against top awpers, but now we can see that he needs to do it on his own terms. Kind of like Maikelele an JW with their wild playstyle.

and whats that supposed to mean then? is he in some weird way alluding to mouz not giving him enough room in the team? was he crying himself to sleep at night bcs niko is playing the first violin in that team and he could only have the second? crap. in any team in the world save from SK and NaVi niko would be the starplayer. thats really not anything to cry about.

And have you for a moment even considered a thought that Niko is that star player because he is being given a FREEDOM to play as he wishes? And that Oskar needs the same treatment? Seems to me that Niko wanted some "star awper" to be his bitch and do what suits HIS playstyle.

what a load of crap. ofc niko looks better than he is bcs he is in a shit team that lets him do whatever the fuck he wants. but that doesnt change that he is one of the absolute best players to ever touch cs. and niko, basicly in elo hell, finally gets another star player on the team to help carry the german bots and for some reason u assume that he is too toxic? even though there is nothing pointing at niko being toxic? and even if so, so what?

Another aggresive individual that has problems to comprehend a text ... Have I ever written Niko was toxic? I have said that Niko probably wanted Oskar to bend to his will, and do things Oskar wasnt comfortable with (he said as much in his statement, the part that is missing in the translation. And he is one of the best because he is not being subjected to a strict set of rules associated with a role. Doesnt mean a "star awper" has to carry on Nikos terms.

it looks like i dont understand u simply bcs u write so much bs that i interpret it correctly and then think he cant really mean that, this is too stupid so i interpret it differently. as if niko would not try his hardest to make it work with oskar.... and as if oskar, finally in a decent team with at least 2 other good players wouldnt try his hardest either to make it work and just suck it up when not everything works smoothly at first. oh wait, apparently oskar did not suck it up and did not try his hardest to make shit work.

he specifically said that nobody died, nothing is wrong in his surroundings and the problem was in his own head. that translates to either: he is nuts and doesnt wanna say it. or: he didnt give it 100% and personality issues which he has shown in the past prevented him from doing his job, which basicly means: hes an ass.

I can read. Why you cut your quote ? "Unfortunately, I'm not 20 anymore and right now I really didn't feel up to it" combined with the statement that he knew all of the players (but spiidi) and think that they are nice guys, your point is more and more invalid. He was OK when he did well in HR and he was OK when mouz did well when he came in. He failed on his first T1 event with mouz and he instantly has a fucking midlife crisis with 25 years. Lol, if real pros like TaZ, neo, forest etc. acted in this way, they all would have benched themselves several times and wouldnt be there where they are.

Assuming this isn't PR nonsense, big respect to oskar for stepping down in such a graceful fashion. I hope he achieves all his goals, he's very talented and it'd be a loss to the community to see a player of his caliber fade away into obscurity.

how about he jsut fucking mans up and does his job? that would be a touch more graceful i think, dont u agree? what a pussy. 'couldnt endure the practice regimen' what a load of crap. oskar could have elevated mouz to a new level where if they had replaced denis or spiidi with a decent player they coulda been a really strong team, but all this statement here says is that oskar couldnt be arsed, even though the team just fucking invested in him.

If someone hints at their own mental state, it could potentially mean that it's a serious issue that they don't want to talk about. Neither of us are insiders in the pro scene, we can't assume anything. Sure, if it was just him being lazy, then fuck him, right? But if it were that simple I highly doubt mouz would have so willingly released him from his contract, especially considering how protective they've been with niko. If oskar is going through personal troubles I wish him the best.

look if hes not gonna say what the fuck is wrong and he doesnt even wanna explicitly say that something is wrong he has to expect ppl to judge only the stuff that he did end up saying. and he didnt say fuck all in this statement and it basicly translates to he couldnt be arsed to give it 100%, which i think is a shame bcs without him mouz is just gonna continue to be dogshit.

My interpretation: He had a very bad chemistry with the rest of the team. He didn't find it enjoyable to play with them due to differences in personality. Not feeling comfortable socially he could not feel comfortable playing the game and as a result his performances dropped. Simultaneously he sounds a bit "burned out". Like he maybe just needs that break from CS in order to spend more time with people outside of the game.

I wouldn't have a problem with playing 12 hours a day, 6 days a week if I felt good in the team. Unfortunately, I'm not 20 anymore and right now I really didn't feel up to it. Wrong place, wrong time.

also However, from the get go I felt I couldn't endure the practice regimen and what the others expected of me, which you might have noticed in my performance. I didn't play to the level that was expected of me, I couldn't find myself in the game and I fell into a depressing level, so I saw myself slowing down the team.

none of that shit is precise information as to why it didnt work out. everything leaves room to speculate and forces u to speculate if u wanna know about the issues. what didnt work out? does oskar have depression or other mental health problems? did he have personal problems with one or multiple members of mouz that went so deep that he couldnt play on the same team with them? why cant he endure a hard practice regimen when all other players from age 16 to age 30 are capable of it? why did he not perform to the level expected of him when he had shown worldclass potential earlier in the year in HR? none of this gets answered and everything he does say is vague as fuck.

Oskar couldn't fit into the role mouz wanted him play in. NiKo is THE STAR in mouz. Everything in the team is built around him. If NiKo succeeds, mouz succeeds. In HR oskar was the star but in mouz he had to adapt his game into the system that was built around NiKo. Oskar couldn't adapt into playing in mouz. He might be sick player in FPL or in a team built around him but he clearly isn't a team player.

I got so happy when oskar got finally picked up by a team like mouz, all these years of performances far exceeding cz/sk scene and he still reletlessly practised hoping to get a shot being at the very top someday now I see that the transition might have taken far too long and the arrival of FPL and other tools that brought previously unknown international players to the relevancy and focus of the top teams in the game I really do hope that oskar finds the passion and fire for playing the game, it would be a hell of a shame and I hope that mouz boys (and especially Niko that became a really good friend of oskar's) wont completely give up on him

But on this level you hang out a lot with your team mates and talk and talk and i think oskar couldnt and its stressful, also oskar is dude which make fun about everything, and sometime his jokes can seems toxic etc, we are ok with him when he is like this talking czech, but again when you cant talk much english and use some dumb joke this can cause problems too. lol for some reason I read 28-29, whatever. 25 still young enough to take a chance and try, idk why he is not taking the risk of it considering he is playing CS too much anyway regardless of playing for a team or nah. That's my point. Oportunities and chances are rare, if he wants to have a succesful career and at the same time he is not willing to take the risk of it... chances of him regreting after a while the fact that he left mouz and diminishing his chances a lot are pretty high. Whatever, just speaking my mind, couldn't care less about peoples choices. Gl Oskar.

Pimp mentioned that s1mple spent most of his time in Liquid's team house and haven't had much social life (which sounds crazy when you live in Los Angeles).

tl;dr Player rises to superstar status. Starts hitting near impossible shots against some of the best players in world. A large org buys him into contract, makes him play in an environment where he can't toggle, and his performance suddenly drops way off. The other players at the org start asking questions, to which he has no answers, so he leaves by mutual consent. Goes to find a team that doesn't mind toggling - Swedish roster change inc..? //Can't say I blame him though...

I just remember a few months ago when everyone was making fun about virtus pro. they are too old, they are too bad blabla. but they are able to conquer hard times and won't give up easily. even the best players struggle but they come back but you won't come back if you quit too early. same applies to G2. they had a few months underperforming but slow and steady they worked their way up to e-league win.

I see this as oskar being too weak minded. He could'n handle pressure, hard training regimen and being on a bad phase, at the same time. I don't think he's ready to join a top team. He got the skills but with a weak mind, nothing happens.

so, he left cause he is a pussy? I mean, if you know you can perform better and your teammates aren't that bad (as in being bad people not players), why wouldn't you just push it a bit further and endure the difficulties and strive to be better. if you want to achieve something in CS, that is. From his statement it's clear he doesn't want to achieve shit, just wants to get payed for "playing" CS.

Just ruined his best shot at a t1 team now everyone will assume he will be like this on their team and doubtful anyone but maybe OpTic or something buying out his contract I mean why worry about English so much if you're not on a team ATM I get to get a better grasp on it for future teams to help prevent that language barrier but I think it's more for a trip to NA where the big bucks and no majors live

So underwhelming statement. Basically hes suggesting that they had team issues (afaik they didnt have many with previous lineup, def. not public) and/or he was not willing to practice needed amount of time. I really dont see much else in the statement. That is as bad for him as it can be in terms of new contract, i just hope he(mouz) already recieved some "you cant deny this" contract, but thats very unlikely. There are also few funny things, like i am not 20 anymore (thats why u waste so much time just benching in teams like HR or mouz?) and few more :) Improving english? NA teams are trash except maybe TL (bye JDM :P) and clowns (they got ska) but will they buy him out?

So he left his job to dedicate to his cs career and then cant commit to training schedules?? Wtf was he thinking that would happen as he got into an higher tier of cs? To me this just shows that he is weak minded and not much of a professional. Niko must be Hard to handle, but I believe that most of the tier 2 players would love yobhave a chance to play in mouz, im sure lowel is very happy Also relevant: >im not 20 anymore >lul

For me he is just pussy... i understand if he has like 17 years old and get scared of the big stage but there is no reason for him to step down like that. He is experienced player and he should know how to improve his game but instead he choose to get paid from streaming. Its way easier and he dont need to dedicate that much time. As i said, he is just pussy nothing more.

twitter.com/Thooorin/status/785497210570.. Honestly i dont like Thorin. But as an analyst he is better than 95% comments here. Just try to think more. Ok oskar is often moody but in general he is good person. And he loves the game more than money, money is just big plus, obviously. I feel sorry for people who think that he is just pussy, quitter, toxic or cheater.
