GuardiaN: "I like the format"

Our next interview from EPICENTER: Moscow is with Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács, who talked about clinching first place in the group of ties and Na`Vi's shaky map pool.

Like everyone else in Group A, Natus Vincere tied all their matches but secured first place and thus a semi-final spot thanks to putting up the best round difference of the four teams.

After their last match against Ninjas in Pyjamas, where they lost Nuke but dominated Overpass, Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács talked to HLTV.org about Natus Vincere's thinking behind some of the vetoes, their shaky map pool and more:

If you would have played the groups as seeding rounds it would have been a better solution and then have 4 quarters. Top seed vs bottom from the other group. Second vs third from each group etc. Then it wouldn't be a big deal.

You are saying like there was coin toss who goes out. NiP went out because of round difference. Back in 1.6 days, top3 teams would never lose 16-3.

yeah, if the rules would say that "NaVi gets full ak47s plus armor every round", then the rules were the same for every team, but it would still benefit navi. can you understand?

Here's the problem: One team gets a single lucky shot, which down the line causes the other team to eco. That single round then determines who wins. Also: If you play two maps, you can have one of them be good for team A and one of them be good for team B. But if team B's map is worse for pistols, then team A will win less ecos, thus less rounds in general. Is team A worse? Nah, they just lost on a map they're weaker on and couldn't get as many rounds because of map design. Definitely shouldn't drop out. I'd say it's like saying total kills decide who advances. That's just not going to show which team is better.

but its still the same for every single team.thats my point...every single team has exactly the same conditions=noone has an advantage. btw its still much better than bo1 group stage format.

these reasons are still bullshit. just like thorin said in his video, the round difference is dependent on many thing, like the side the team plays first. this game is not about winning rounds, its about winning the match. this is what eco rounds are about. you "throw" away one round intentionally, so you can have better chances in the next one, with better guns etc.

i dont believe he is lying. most of the pros are actually honest about their opinion. even when they won the group they say the system is shit. like when fnatic eliminated tsm in a bo1 last year olof said the system was shit. even if fnatic and tsm always hated each other pretty much.
