gla1ve joins Astralis

Astralis have confirmed via their official website the signing of Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander from Heroic.

The 21-year-old will take over from Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen, who was transferred to FaZe last week, just days after being dropped to the bench.

Lukas "⁠gla1ve⁠" Rossander is no stranger to Astralis, having played for the team as a stand-in at ESL One Cologne due to Markus "⁠Kjaerbye⁠" Kjærbye being ineligible to compete at the event.

gla1ve takes over as Astralis' ingame leader

The Danish giants managed to break into the top eight at the Major despite being force to field a second substitute, team coach Danny "⁠zonic⁠" Sørensen, for their last two matches as Peter "⁠dupreeh⁠" Rasmussen fell ill halfway through the tournament.

With Astralis now having the majority of the roster that reached the playoffs in Cologne, the team will be able to attend the ELEAGUE Major with their new lineup in full, as we explained in an article released after karrigan was removed from the starting roster.

"Since the ESL One Cologne Major my biggest dream has been to play for Astralis and today that dream has come true," Rossander told Astralis' website.

"It is truly a great honour for me to get the opportunity to play and work with such talented people. Astralis have been through a rough patch lately and I will do my very best to get them back to where they belong.

"I have always known that someday I would go back to being the in-game leader I once was. I am extremely motivated and I feel ready to show people what I am capable of. This last year has been amazing – as have the last couple of months.

"I want to thank the guys from Heroic for being so understanding and such great friends. A special thanks goes to Snappi, who I have been playing with for the last year. Good luck in the future with the Heroic project!"

Astralis will make their first offline appearance with the new roster in two weeks' time as the team will compete in Group C of ELEAGUE, alongside Natus Vincere, ALTERNATE aTTaX and SK Gaming.

The Danish team's roster consists of:

Its a stupid fucking rule. Gla1ve should have been against it. Maybe threatening to boycott was a bit far, but it isn't like he has a history of raging and complaining about events and shit. Oh wow, what a suprising move. Never saw this one coming. On a serious note, I'm glad they picked up Gla1ve. A player that they already know and that has shown he's up to the level Astralis want.

Had my hopes up for Valde, but it will be interesting to see what gla1ve can bring to the team. I was certain that it was not only on the tactical side they were slacking but also on the firepower side. Let's see how it goes. Looking forward to it.

Actually it was the only reasonable option for Astralis since they got rid of karrigan. gla1ve was the IGL of the first tier1 Danish team in CS:GO (Western Wolves - gla1ve Nille Nico MSL Pimp, 16-1 offline on inferno vs NiP, constantly defeating VeryGames and overall they were extremely fun to watch). Now he has a plenty of work on how to utilize Kjaerbye to be that star player he was in dignitas and Xyp9x to simply be useful for the team. After 3 years of wasting time he finally has got a top tier team to be part of, it's the chance of his life, and he's able to use it to full advantage. GL gla1ve, make Astralis great again pls!

While this is somewhat true, it's not that simple. Of course it depends on who, but often a single roster change can completely alter a team. Not only do you have to get the communication on point with the new guy, but you also need to figure out where to put him in your strategies. Often you would have to redo strats and overall gameplay to fit the personality of the player. But I hope Heroic will do great with niko.

Ruining is a strong word, but Astralis could definitely destroy Dignitas competitiveness if they traded a player with them. Dignitas has only had success with the current line up, so changing a single player could be enough to break their motor.

Please no :D Although i wouldnt put it past them. Cash is king and fnatic is a big org. Im still kinda hoping this fnatic lineup will fail again. Dont know why, but im not a fan of shuffling players around like this. Making things work seems like a better perspective to me. Thats why i liked Heroic and dislike fnatic and astralis to begin with. They made a career out of good placings in tournaments (top4 a lot of times) Yes they have problems with choking, but it's not like they were not making it out of groups or anything. Sure top8/4 placements are good but the amount of skill on some of these dannish players is unreal. They should be winning these tournaments and even when they were top 1/2 they really were just the only team that had fnatics number. Firstly the only reason they're taking this bum player is because they don't want to play with zonic in the team, secondly he was never even a decent IGL and none of his teams he's ever led were ever good, Heroic is the only decent team he was ever playing for and he wasn't IGL. Think of it this way, their only choices at least until February 2017 is zonic or gla1ve they made a lot of stupid decisions and now they are stuck, don't feel bad for them at all either.
