NBK-: "[New timeouts] are pointless"

Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt talked to HLTV.org following EnVyUs' loss to NiP in the quarter-finals at ESL Pro League Season 4 Finals.

Envy finished in second place of Group A following three confident victories and a loss to MOUZ, which matched them up to Ninjas in Pyjamas in today's quarter-finals. There, the French side barely contested the Swedish' CT side on Nuke and exited the competition after an overtime-worthy Dust2.

In the following video interview Nathan "⁠NBK-⁠" Schmitt talks about Christophe "⁠SIXER⁠" Xia's improvement since WESG, Envy' losses in São Paulo and some of the issues the event has faced at the finals.

The timeout system should be revised. I have a shitty suggestion. Instead of three of four timeouts. You should have 4 or maybe 6 minutes of total timeout time for a match per team, except for technical pauses of course. That way a team can have one big good timeout, or two 2-3 minute ones per half. That way you cannot cheat the timeouts and get extra time/timeouts like you do now. Plus at the end of the 4 minutes it ends, no more timeouts. Timeout time should end as soon as the first person on the corresponding team that timed out, types "/unpause" or whatever. With any time after that being saved for subsequent timeouts. I think it can be an interesting dynamic, it makes teams use timeouts more wisely, and some leaders can choose to keep the timeout time for when they need it most. Of course 5 seconds of timeout time may be useless, but 30 seconds saved is maybe good enough to take a breather and have a little chat. Also there should be a different command for technical and tactical timeouts. You should type ".tech" or "/tech" for technical pause. And".tact" "/tact" for a tactical pause or just type ".pause" or "/pause" like you do now. At least this should be a thing, right now it's hard for a viewer to tell whether it's technical or tactical unless the casters tell us, especially when some streams don't show the chat.

Even 4 per team breaks the flow of the game completely. CS:GO feels like American Football compared to 1.6 with all those ridiculous pauses.

Yes, 'cause every young Frenchman is a cartoon character. He still has a pretty noticeable accent, but it's just a bit thinner than other French people. He's just obviously spent a lot of time on the internet, consumed a lot of international media, and his girlfriend is from Austria (so they probably converse in English). The only young players who seem to have huge trouble with English (and sound goofy (read: dumb) as fuck), are Eastern Europeans (whether due to lack of education or cultural aversion to "the west", or maybe both, I don't know).

If you use them properly either to break momentum or even after a team wins a round after your win-streak to break the possible momentum...or even to reset your team mentally..then it's good, but if you have no clue when to use them like nV/etc, they're "pointless."
