GODSENT edge HR to win EU Minor

GODSENT have become the champions of the PGL Regional Minor Championship Europe after three close maps with HellRaisers (Cobblestone 14-16, Mirage 16-13, Cache 16-14).

Cobblestone was the first map of the European Minor's final, where GODSENT started off strong on the less favoured Counter-Terrorist side with a 6-1 lead following a few close rounds on the A bombsite.

Another quick A execute gave HellRaisers an opening for three rounds in a row, while another gunround ended up with Bence "DeadFox" Böröcz losing a promising 1v3 attempt. Breaking their opponents in the next round, Kyrylo "ANGE1" Karasiow's team proceeded to get three more in a row for 7-8 on the first half.

Andreas "znajder" Lindberg's double entry in a fake put GODSENT up on 11-7, though HellRaisers quickly equalized the score after a few close encounters on each site, including a 1v2 clutch from Martin "STYKO" Styk.

STYKO clutched two important 1v2's on Cobblestone

The close rounds meant HellRaisers had to save after losing just one round, as Robin "flusha" Rönnquist put up two entry kills, which put GODSENT in the driving seat at 14-11. It wasn't enough to close out the map however. STYKO continued to play well in the latter half while ANGE1 got a crucial triple in middle for five rounds in a row and a 16-14 victory on HR's pick.

The beginning of Mirage was a back-and-forth battle. HellRaisers won the pistol as CT but znajder's 1v3 clutch put GODSENT on 3-1. The following two rounds were split and the European mixture opted for a forcebuy, which was successful and set off a four-round streak.

With an A split, the Swedes stopped it and grabbed their fifth round before the last three rounds went back and forth for a 9-6 half in favor of HellRaisers. GODSENT won the following pistol, but a wrong read in the first gunround made it 10-8.

GODSENT made up for the mistake in the following two rounds and took the lead at 11-10. After exchanging the next two close situations, GODSENT took three comfortable rounds for map point. It took them a few attempts, but Markus "pronax" Wallsten's 1v2 clutch eventually finished the map at 16-13.

znajder continued to put up good numbers on Mirage

Cache was a very one-sided affair towards the start, as GODSENT picked up seven comfortable rounds in a row. When HellRaisers had a chance in the eighth round, Jonas "Lekr0" Olofsson stepped up with a fantastic triple in a 3v4 situation, but the European team eventually got on the board at 8-1.

The Swedes extended their lead to 10-1 once they sent HR on an eco again, but ANGE1's team managed to stabilize towards the end for three out of the four remaining rounds.

With a clean pistol round, HellRaisers closed the gap to 7-11. The first two gunrounds of the second half were split, which forced GODSENT on low economy while DeadFox and company made it 10-12. Their prolonged attack in the following round backfired, but a quick one in the next meant another eco for pronax's squad.

HellRaisers even took their first lead on the decider at 14-13, but the score was even right afterwards as flusha destroyed the Terrorists on the A bombsite. Lekr0 stepped up with a triple in another A retake for match point and Jesper "JW" Wecksell clutched a 1v3 towards the end for 16-14, 2-1.

Well grats to Godsent for getting EU minor title, but clearly they need more practice and more time to get better, we know they have potential but sometimes you need some effort to use your potential.

They do need some time too, they had 5 days of practice with Lekro and changing somebody like KRIMZ for Lekro is a big difference. I think that they have a chance on the Major qualifier as long as they fix all their mistakes, they have a month and the mistakes they made are easy to fix, so yeah...

natu was right, godsent won it but they didn't deserve it. I do hope they will be way more prepared coming into the major qualifiers.

why they didn't deserved it? doesn't matter how bad GODSENT were, if they won it means rest teams was worse anyway.

they were resilient since they were down 0-1 in like every bo3, but they got super lucky that these weren't major caliber teams that would seize on every mistake.
