NiP announce pyth return

Ninjas in Pyjamas have announced that Jacob "pyth" Mourujärvi will return to their active lineup with immediate effect.

The 23-year-old spent the last three months on the sidelines recovering from an hand injury, with Mikail "⁠Maikelele⁠" Bill, a former member of NiP, coming on in his stead on a temporary basis.

With Maikelele as a stand-in, NiP won the StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 2 and finished third-fourth at the ESL Pro League Season 4 Finals.

Before Saturday's match against G2 Esports in the group stage of ELEAGUE Season 2, Maikelele hinted that it could be his "final match" for the team, who would beat the Frenchmen 2-0 to secure a spot in the playoffs of the $1.4 million competition.

"I got more nervous from watching the matches at home than playing them because you get a different view of the game," Mourujärvi told NiP's website.

"Sometimes when they lost I wish I could do something about it.

"It feels really good to be back again with the boys. Thanks for the support and everyone that believes in me!"

NiP's first event with Jacob "⁠pyth⁠" Mourujärvi back on the roster will be IEM Oakland, from November 16-20, a tournament that will have $300,000 on offer.

I think lele supported the team moral a lot. His biggest impact wasn't the fragging power, it was that the other players were happy around him. Not sure if pyth is able to fill that spot...

Dont get me wrong, for me the big problem has allways been xizt. He sucks as a IGL and is forced to IGL for some stupid reason, they improved so much when threat was calling and xizt was just a normal player(wich fits him waaay better). TL:DR : Lack of a good IGL is what dragging nip down according to me.

You did not read at all did You? WHEN threat was ingame calling they played way better and ha good strats etc, without threat calling they are not playing as combined with good strats, Xizt has never been a stratcalling mastermind, but he has allways been a good consistent rifler. Fifflaren was amazing with strats but to hard as a igl for gtr and forest, but he still made alot of the strats they used.

Xizt is good as an ingameleader. With Threat called it was good in the beggining. Mostly because it was a totaly new playstyle. But after that they went out last in ECS and did not even get their legend spot in the major. But when Threat got the more passive role and Xizt could lead the team again they instantly won a tournament. And Xizt is still fragging as igl. Actually better rating now than with threat as igl.

You realize that they won star series with xzist calling and b4 big bO3 matches threat sends analysis and strats. On boot camp threat still give strats. Xzist only has to do very little in terms of being igl. He only reacts based on kills deaths and where to execute. Pyth was 2nd to 1st best player on Nip during his time with them since gtr and forest were mostly out of it. I dont think they will do bad with pyth maybe he become rusty at worst but never a bot friberg

And that is why maikelele is good for nip, friberg gtr and f0rest is waking up. Xizt is famous for being easy to predict and nip is famous for allways do the same stuff over and over again, it became a little bit better with threat but would be so much better with a real IGL. The firepower is more than enough in nip but the brains aint there, its dragging everyone down, you just notice it the most on friberg atm(wich has been playing so much better since maikel joined).

they cant deliver always and when that happens there is no other player in nip good enough to take over.Even if others under perform f0rest or GT can win matches by themselves but opposite is not possible.well friberg is on par with forest and gtr in temrs of skill(atleast aim-wise) but he never performs :(.They would have been so good with twist instead of pyth.

Both pyth and twist are bad players, maikalele is kinda perfect for nip. Plus he wakes up the other payers in the team, pyth is just simply not a tier1 player and will never be. Twist is also super overhyped cause of 1 event where he played decent, ha never played as good after that even like 3 years ago.

What I'm trying to say is that after the break the first 10 maps in the last 3 months were played with disco, not with Maikelele and NiP won 8/10 of those maps which inflated the other NiP member's stats. Due to this Maikelele has a bit lower stats then the other NiP members when realistically if those 10 maps were not included then Maikelele would probably have the third highest stats in MiP.

I think pyth is better for NiP than lele I like Maikelele and he looks good in NiP, but I think NiP has more potential to improve with Pyth they seem to be stagnating with lele imao also I think pyth is underrated because he is ugly and has no charisma I prefer my pros hot and spicy too, but for a pro gamer performance ingame should be more important than that.

lmao. An apt analysis, at best :P Regardless, I completely agree Pyth should be back in NiP. Maikelele is amazing and all, but in terms of sheer individual skill level, Pyth will win everytime. Maikelele is a better AWP'er, but Pyth is an all-round better rifler, better pistol player, a far better clucher and is insane with the AWP himself. Young talent is what NiP needs right now. Haha, what? Besides Pyth had around 0.15 better rating during the same timespan as Maikel. The rest of the team playing better doesn't directly mean it's due to Maikelele you know? Pyth IS statistically a better player than Maikel this year, that's a fact. They also achieved just as much with pyth eventhough they performed worse individually which points to much better symmetry and teamplay.

People who complain about NIP not going for Maikelele need to understand that there are something called contracts, pyth is a contracted player and Maikelele was always a short-term standin due to injury. pyth is a very capable player, my only worry is that he won't be on the same level as before the injury when he resume active duty. We've seen that with Olofmeister and Guardian.... both having problems getting to that level they had before their injuries.
