Heroic to replace VP in Oakland

Virtus.pro have renounced their spot at IEM Oakland, which will be taking place November 16-20. In their stead, Heroic have been confirmed.

The Polish squad have decided to skip the event across the bay from San Francisco citing an overcrowded schedule. The $300,000 tournament will instead feature the Danish-Swedish lineup of HEROIC who will stay in North America after their Northern Arena appearance, where they will try to bounce back from a 7-8 place at the European Minor.

Heroic will be glad to have another chance at proving their worth

Virtus.pro will then not return to the Bay Area, where they went out last year at IEM San Jose after a single match—which they played with Michał "MICHU" Müller as a stand-in—and will instead focus their energy on other tournaments such as ELEAGUE Season 2, the ELEAGUE Major, and WESG.

“It was a hard call to make, but after long and careful consideration we have decided to withdraw from IEM Oakland. It’s been extremely hard as we know how much our fans on West Coast have been looking forward to see some real VP action. We’ve had a very hard period during last couple of months with tournaments and online qualifiers filling almost every single day. Today we feel that to keep on performing on top level and make sure we deliver the right emotions to all our fans worldwide we need to make a small break and concentrate on upcoming events. California, we now have a debt to pay, so see you next year!”, said Roman Dvoryankin, Virtus.pro's General Manager.

If the groups are not redrawn, this is how they stand:

Group A Group B
United States Liquid Denmark HEROIC
World Natus Vincere Brazil SK
France G2 Sweden Ninjas in Pyjamas
Denmark Astralis Europe MOUZ
Other iBP Masters Seed B1 Other iBP Masters Seed A1
Other iBP Masters Seed A2 Other iBP Masters Seed B2

Check out IEM Oakland's event page for everything regarding the tournament.

Well, all the best teams is in this tournament. Eleague and IEM should have talked about this so all the hightier teams could play in this tournament.

They did talk, thats why there are 4 teams in group D that are not participating in IEM. Obviously they couldn't know about VP withdrawing from the tournament.

I guess his point is that - they didnt split the "events" on different dates. So people didn't have to chose, on what to attend.

The original comment was about Eleague season 2 Group D teams not being able to be at IEM. This is because IEM and Eleague s2 are both LANs and the teams couldnt be at both. The argument in this thread was never about VP. VP left by choice to give themselves some break in their extremely busy schedule. The thread ws arguing about Teams in Eleague s2 Group D not being able to fill VPs spot (fnatic, dignitas, envyus, or optic) even though dignitas is arguably the best team to fill in for VPs spot.

They might have asked other teams and they refused. Dig is playing eleague at that time and c9 just needs to get top 4(of 8 teams) at ibp masters to get in, same with faze so they will most likely be there anyways

Yeah, Godsent and c9 are probably gona qualify through iBP masters and Fnatic/Dignitas are going to be at ELEAGUE:

Dignitas is playing at EL atm, and C9 will most likely qualify from iBP masters. Dunno about Fnatic tho, was looking forward to see them performing :c

I can't honestly other teams have LANs every week as well and you don't see them constantly dodging them. VP is waiting for cheat update so Byali can keep aimlocking 15 times every round and Snax sitting in smoke tracing people and doing ninja defuse after aimlocking to see if anyone near him.

When you have 300 clips like Byali does it's no longer suspicious imo, it's good evidence to show he's cheating also ESL banned Snax in 2011 for cheating hltv.org/news/7547-esl-bans-zaider-cosmo.. I personally still think he's cheating.

Hypocrite? I think Flusha is blatant af idk how he isn't banned and I think the same for Byali how tf are these blatant kids not banned yet with 500 clips each, at that point it isn't just suspicious anymore it becomes actual evidence they're cheating.

Lol, if you play so much, you will obviously have some clips. Also, ESL unbanned Snax after 2 weeks, because there was nothing there. Please, focus on your school. :)

They unbanned him cause they got bribed some money to do it that's it. Snax is cheating just accept it everyone else has already same with Byali, only reason VP can remain relevant with 3 bots on the team.

Just look the first 6 months of 2016 when they didn't use cheats such a terrible team one of the worst online ever, than in mind 2016 they started getting insanely good out of nowhere after not even being in the top 20, pasha is busy in the gym and with his family, NEO & TaZ only play pugs on faceit they will never improve so what you think happened for them to become top 1 after not even being top 20 in the first 6 months? They started cheating simple as that.

Its not like that, they played at every possible LAN last few months so skipping Oakland(300K) is a good call i think. They need to qualify to ECS2(750k) and prepare for ELEAGUE playoffs(1,1m). Reasonable choice.

No they are dodging LANs while their cheat coder is updating LAN cheat for them it's to obvious at this point. Byali told his teams, I'm not ready yet my cheat isn't updated, we can't go to Oakland tournament and Neo say ok why not use cheat Snax is using on LAN and Byali says it doesn't work that way we all have our own cheat thats coded for ourself and our play style.
