G2 secure final over EnVyUs

G2 have secured a spot in the final at Northern Arena Montreal, winning 2-0 over EnVyUs in the semi-final (22-18 on Overpass and 16-9 on Nuke). They will face the winner of Heroic-OpTic.

As G2 did not win their own group while Envy did, that meant the much anticipated domestic matchup of these French teams would be settled in the first semi-final of Northern Arena Montreal.

Out of nowhere, the Boys in Blue decided to let their perma-ban of Overpass go thru in the veto and G2 picked it duly, as it has been their pocket pick for some time. Richard "shox" Papillon and co. took the pistol on their T-side and the ensuing three rounds until Envy then replied with a signature arsenal of various handguns and a saved rifle from the previous round.

They got a good read initially of the T-side setup and pulled it back to 4-4, before the Samurai proved they were born to forcebuy, moving swiftly into the A-site with just Tec-9's and playing the close range battles. From here on out there was not much of a spectacle to the rounds as Alexandre "bodyy" Pianaro's team were incredibly on point with the trades and getting the numbers advantage.

Though Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom did secure a gunround practically by himself, peeking Kenny "kennyS" Schrub long range first and then walking into the A-site alone and getting a triple, all in all the CT-defense posted from Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt's squad were not properly drilled to hold off the assault and G2 got themselves a healthy 11-4 lead.

Envy won the crucial pistol round on their T-side, and managed to reset G2 early after the first gun round, pushing the CT economy in a dumpster and clawed it back to a 12-10 deficit.

RpK was key on Overpass - first point of contact on CT and getting the impact kills.

Edouard "SmithZz" Dubourdeaux had timing on his side in the 23rd round as he line-up of two T's on long A and secured a following round to move to 14-10.And despite Dan "apEX" Madesclaire having a rough start, he stood tall when most needed in a 1v2 clutch where the bomb was not planted still and, getting a quad kill in the process.

The rounds continued to go back and forth though it looked like the Samurai had it in the bag in the 29th round on map point 15-13, but they got impatient in the 3v2 advantage, had no money for the last round and so it was going to be overtime to settle the first map.

The trend of T-side dominance continued as Envy took a 2-1 lead and won the next, now looking to complete the surprise, but ScreaM clutching against Christophe "SIXER" Xia kept the Black-Red squad in the game and in the second overtime G2 took full control of the affair with a clean sweep of four rounds to close out the map 22-18.

Moving on to the second map of Nuke, the Boys in Blue secured an important T-pistol and the subsequent two rounds before shox and company answerred back in the first gun round. Looking to get reset straight away after a swift bomb plant and site hold from Envy, though by saving 3 rifles into the next, they could then counter-reset Vincent "Happy" Schopenhauer and his soldiers, taking a 5-4 lead off the back of that.

No team could really put themselves in control, as both teams had some clean rounds that was over before they started, but when they hesitated against the force buys, they couldn't manage to play the advantage of the long angles of the map properly. 9-6 lead for G2 on the CT-side

bodyy continued his beastly performance in Canda over both maps against his countrymen

apEX's side managed to hold on thru the next pistol round on CT, as he barely clutched it out for his team in a interresting all-catwalk push  from G2. Three more rounds for Envy before losing the first gun round, and though they had strong economy afterwards to potentially reset the T-side, they failed in holding off the assault from shox' squad, and in what looked like time running out before the plant came in, Happy misjudged the situation and died with barely a second left of the round. 11-9 now for G2.

NBK- and the boys had a very anxious setup on their defense, overextending for the information plays which the Black-Red Frenchmen promptly punished by holding the angles patiently time and time again. The timing seemed off for kennyS's team, and G2 could close out the map and series with a 16-9 win.

indeed. People now say the same thing for IGL, supporter... WTF they are all players, they all have to be able to frag

But if you have to support a losing team while having the utility of the team instead of going with a rifle sometimes it does make sense for this players to not frag that much. Yet tho, as i said, they lost, when you lose your stats aren't normally the best. The one that should be a worry is Smithz with -10 on the winning team.

/s? csgo today, every role has to frag. Look at SK.. your IGL even needs to frag. unless you want to forever be a t2 team stuck in 2014, all roles must frag. the only difference for a star player is they are play makers and generally able to be more versatile than a dedicated role like support, awp, IGL etc. star player can rifle, awp, anchor sites etc.

Why nV players are that emotional? Like when they lost a round, they're so disappointed! Like WHAT the F_CK?!! You need to be calm after losing a round and be happy after winning a round, and if you're that easy to get disappointed - it suxx a lot, you shouldn't be that emotionally unstable.

G2 please STOP wasting your riflers' talents by making them play with an AWP! Both shox and ScreaM are much more useful with rifles, and having them playing with rifles is much better for G2 overall. SmithZz is a mediocre AWPer and a mediocre rifler, so he can't compensate losing neither of those two great riflers for G2. What's the point of having SmithZz in the team now? Just for midround calls? It looks poor, if he's your best friend - move him to position of a coach, you have no coach so SmithZz may help you with stuff that shox is forced to do by himself now like watching demos and so on. G2, stop that shit, or you're gonna lose another major group, 10th in a row.

Tbf smithz did a pretty good job today with rifles, even yesterday against coL. I know this will not happen every game, but we can say after some tough times that smithzz somehow became a little bit usefull.

coL is a T4 team. nV... well, I liked how G2 defeated them, but it's not enough, G2 should show more capability of defeating at least T2 teams, they decided to make a rifler out of SmithZz - ok let's see what will happen, but I don't really believe in their success, they do need to merge with nV to finally do damage to SK and VP.

RpK is inconsistent, and he often dies overpeeking at his enemies, he should finally understand that run'n'gun style doesn't work against strong teams. Otherwise I'd replace him with some nV player.

In either sense it worked, but if anything, it's your phrasing that is slightly off. I guess you simply not placing the word 'win' at the end of semi-final threw people off as it's easy to assume G2 secure their position in the semi-final over envyus, rather than a win over envyus in the semi.
