TyLoo secure Oakland berth

The two first maps of the Group A decider were split, with TyLoo taking Dust2, 16-14, and Echo Fox taking Mirage 16-10. Finally, TyLoo will be the team in Oakland as they were able to take it on Overpass, 16-14.

The first three rounds on Dust2 were a whitewash, as Echo Fox only gave up one death to TYLOO, getting ahead 3-0 and securing a strong start in the economic game. The Chinese team tried a split A on the first gun round, but two frags by Daniel "⁠roca⁠" Gustaferri on short on the 3vs3 afterplant and one last by Shahzeb "⁠ShahZaM⁠" Khan with the AWP gave Echo Fox enough time for the defuse.

After six straight rounds by Echo Fox, who were exploiting the double AWP setup with "⁠⁠" and ShahZaM on Dust2’s CT side, forced TYLOO to take a timeout to rethink their approach. Round after round TYLOO crashed against Echo Fox’s wall until finally in the 10th round of the half the Chinese team were able to plant on A and run the clock down. In the end, Echo Fox were able to close the half with an 11-4 lead after giving up a few late rounds in the half.

TYLOO opened their defensive side by taking the pistol round and the two anti-ecos, starting a very steep climb to the comeback, as they were still down 11-7. TYLOO won the first gun round, holding A long, but then made a monumental mistake giving up a B split against an upgraded pistol buy and allowing Echo Fox to grab footing on the terrorist side.

ShahZam’s nightmare on mid doors

With 12-9 on the board, and TYLOO getting ever closer, a huge four kill round by roca defending the afterplant on A got Echo Fox one round closer to the finish line, with 13-9 on the board. Echo Fox then won the anti-eco, although just barely, to get one round away from 15.

TYLOO, however, weren’t about to let Echo Fox run away with it, as they won five rounds back-to-back to get within one, 14-13. The Chinese team were finally able to bring it all the way back, taking the lead for the first time in the match on the 29th round of the match. Ke "⁠captainMo⁠" Liu then got four AWP kills long, leaving to fend for himself in a 1vs5 which eventually went the way of TYLOO, ending the map at 16-14.

Echo Fox got four swift kills straight out of the gate on CT side Mirage, but were brought to the edge when captainMo got four glock kills before being taken out. Echo Fox got the first four rounds, but then TYLOO came back with four of their own forcing the North American side to take a time out.

After the timeout, YuLun "⁠Summer⁠" Cai stopped Echo Fox’s CT aggression on ramp and palace while his team made it into B site to plant, forcing Echo Fox’s last two remaining players to save. TYLOO and Echo Fox then went back-and-forth trading rounds for an 8-7 half in favor of the Chinese side.

Echo Fox won the pistol after an A plant, securing the tie on first round of the half and taking the lead after the following two. TYLOO tied it back up after winning the first gun round and the one following, although Echo Fox went on to take the lead back at 11-10 and keeping TYLOO in constant money troubles. Echo Fox then started to display some tactical counter strike and racked up the remaining rounds for a 16-10 win.

A team effort got Echo Fox back into Mirage

The last map of the decider started out with Echo Fox winning the three first rounds on the CT side, but TYLOO brought it back with four rounds of their own. After a pause, though Echo Fox were able to bring it to a 4-4 tie keeping it even.. With 5-5 on the board, Ronnie "⁠ryx⁠" Bylicki secured the A site from TYLOO’s aggression with three important kills to get his team ahead. The North American side then swept the remained of the half for a 10-5 scoreline.

TYLOO still had some fight in them, taking the CT side pistol and first anti-eco, but the second they could buy, Echo Fox started to dictate the pace, with roca getting a particularly important three kill round to put his team at 12-7 and force TYLOO into the eco. Echo Fox got the 13th round, but then TYLOO found the way to put up a wall, denying Echo Fox proper entry into any of the sites, giving themselves a chance at getting back into the game.

Dust2 flashbacks started coming back to Echo Fox as TYLOO’s passive defense started grinding the North American team down, so much so the Chinese side took the lead 14-13. Echo Fox then worked a slow methodical round, with all five players ending the round alive and eliminating the enemy team for a 14-14 tie. Finally, TYLOO closed the map out in a 4vs5 afterplant on the last round of the map, with Summer defusing the bomb while ShahZaM was blocked off on the wrong side of a smoke.

Well disappointed by TyLoo's performance on this tournament even thou they won this match, particularly against Echo Fox after that comeback they did on dust2 had some hopes for them but sadly they need lots of training, clearly they don't have any strats too can't say Echo Fox had strats either, it was like watching random matchmaking match via GOTV.

I agree. It must be hard tho, not being able to practice against EU/NA teams for long enough to make new strats that also will seem completely alien to them. I'm just glad they won

This is basically first because I'm only behind cheater Fastest_Guy_On_HLTV Echo fox doesn't deserve anything with their horrible t sides, what's the point of having an ultra hyped low fragging igl if your t sides suck really hard. Tyloo is much more likely to pull off upsets, glad they got through.

Accurate. They're a wasted spot if they can only play half of the game to a degree of skill. Echo Fox needs changes of some sort before being close to tier2/1/major level. The Tyloo we saw at ibp wasn't the same one we watched beat NaVi and they definitely have at least the possibility of qualifying.

Damn, echo fox showed some promise on their t sides today. Was nice to see some of the teams potential be fulfilled, but they should have had that. And it would be nice to see them at a big name tournament. Could help give roca and ryx more big game experience.

It doesn't always mean that there were severe misplays. It could just mean that the rounds echo fox won were very dominant but they lost the close rounds. Somedays clutches just don't go in your favor.

It's very uncommon for a team to lose, statistically, when they out-frag the other team. Especially when it's by a margin as large as this one. Which means there were obviously some pretty large mistakes that occurred. Also, make no mistake, clutches are generally won through error of one team, not the other way around.

I agree with you however there are multiple factors that can lead to an anomaly such as this. Think of it this way: When echo fox wins a round they keep 4+ alive when Tyloo wins a round they have only 1 or 2 left and "clutch" the round. I'm not talking about clutching in the sense that a member of Tyloo 1v4s Echo Fox because obviously that would be a mistake on Echo Fox and I'm sure they did make mistakes. I'm talking about close rounds in which frags are traded throughout and Tyloo ends up winning.

If they're winning close rounds and coming out with one or two players, the numbers will be closer in terms of frags. What's causing this is there are likely rounds that were lost in one of two ways: Extensive saves of 2+ players, or rounds timing out (saves are one thing, but multiples means there are misplays, and obviously rounds ending without a bomb plant can be attributed to a misplay if you save with 2 or more players because it will ruin your economy). As Terrorist having the bomb defused, where there are still multiple players alive on both sides. Generally that shouldn't happen multiple times (hence team errors), but it can account for adverse frag ratios comparably.

No... if Echo Fox is surviving with 4+ people every round and Tyloo are only surviving with 1-2 that means Echo Fox is getting more frags overall. Example: Echo Fox win and 5 survive, they get 5 frags, Tyloo gets 0. Then Tyloo wins a 1v1 clutch and wins the rounds, Tyloo got 5 frags Echo Fox got 4. That means in these 2 rounds Echo Fox got 9 total frags while Tyloo got only 5. If this continues Echo Fox will outfrag Tyloo and still have a very close scoreline. Also saves of 2+ players are fine. If you're playing Dust 2 for example and your 2 B players get entired on there's no logical way you should ever go for a 3v5 retake on Dust 2 B. It's nearly impossible - especially at this level of play. If you consider that a misplay than pretty much any time a team loses a round is a "misplay." But that's using the term very loosely.

For them to survive that way is nearly impossible *every round.* As a CT it eventually whittles down your economy. As T it will basically eliminate your economy because you cease to make money if you save guns every round. Which eventually leads to ecos. Which eventually leads to (most likely) strings of wins. Which should, in theory, lead to winning a match. Unless you are making huge mistakes. It's not a deep concept. And frankly, your belief that saving 3 v 5 is ridiculous. Nor is that really how it works, because if you're saving 3 v 5 you aren't likely going to be fragging (so your assertion that you'd be out-fragging the other team goes right out the window). It should frankly be considered a misplay if you've saved 3 v 5 more than twice in a row, by the way. But saving a 3 v 5 is entirely dependent on the situation, such as rotation time or utility advantage. A lot of the time you don't see teams attempting a 3 v 5, it's either late game, they are hurting for money, their rotation was too far to come in, or they simply don't have the utility to attempt a retake. Dust 2 B is a solid example of "dependent" because B isn't hard to hold if you've had the time to set up in the site, but it's a nightmare if you've already been collapsed on and have no mid/tunnel control.

Most of the things you're saying aren't relevant to how a disparity of frags happens in a bo3 specifically the point you made about CTs saving; CTs earn money by surviving so a string of saves doesn't hurt them. Also, about the 3v5 situation, the point was that Tyloo could win the round by only getting 2 kills. Meanwhile if Echo Fox is winning the rounds by getting all 5 frags and Tyloo is rarely saving, or rarely given the chance to save, Echo Fox will out frag them as a result . Obviously the example I gave was extreme but as I said, games like this are an anomaly. Something has to be happening that usually doesn't for it to end up this way.
