G2 lock Major spot over Immortals

G2 have advanced to the ELEAGUE Major after clawing back from a 10-14 deficit to defeat Immortals 19-17 on Cache.

G2 kicked off their last match at the qualifier with a successful four-man attack towards A from squeaky, getting up to 3-0 after Adil "⁠ScreaM⁠" Benrlitom saved a dangerous 2v4 situation following Immortals' aggression in A main.

The Frenchmen's fake in the first gunround backfired, as they got picked off one by one, and two quad-kills from Lucas "⁠LUCAS1⁠" Teles gave the Brazilians their first lead in the match at 4-3.

G2 equalized the score with a forcebuy victory on the back of ScreaM's triple, although Immortals quickly got back on their feet, winning all of the remaining rounds with a few more impactful plays from LUCAS1.

Edouard "⁠SmithZz⁠" Dubourdeaux's three kills in the second pistol allowed G2 to begin clawing back. With the first two gunrounds also going their way, they lowered the deficit to 10-11, but Henrique "⁠HEN1⁠" Teles's fantastic 1v2 tipped the scales in Immortals' favor.

The Brazilian side needed two more gunrounds to break G2's economy, but they then dropped the anti-eco due to several exchanges at the start of the round and ScreaM's one-tap in a 1v1 clutch.

Another clutch went G2's way as Alexandre "⁠bodyy⁠" Pianaro won a hard 1v2 on low HP, which turned the economy against Immortals. Cédric "⁠RpK⁠" Guipouy's triple in the next gunround made the score 15-14 after another eco, but doubles from Ricardo "⁠boltz⁠" Prass and João "⁠felps⁠" Vasconcellos sent the match to overtime.

Two big rounds from ScreaM helped G2 secure a three-round half as CT before Immortals got two of their own after switching sides, one of which was thanks to a fantastic quad-kill from HEN1 on B. However, G2 topped a 2v2 situation on A thanks to bodyy's crucial kill and secured the Major spot at 19-17.

Lucas had amazing first half and after this, he was almost useless as a fragger. Smithzz should buy a dinner for Bodyy because every time he did a mistake, Bodyy was there to save G2's asses. Amazing game. Best one at this tournament.

This was easily the best match of the tournament What a game by G2, what mental strength to come back from 4-11 and bring it to OT.. Everyone on G2 stepped up, but bodyy especially proved that he is there in important games.
