ELEAGUE Major first round match-ups

The match-ups for ELEAGUE Major's first round of the Swiss system have been drawn on ELEAGUE's stream.

ELEAGUE's Major will be the first Major to utilize the Swiss format, which was previously used at the last two Main Qualifiers and ESL One New York.

In that format, each round will see teams with the same win-loss record facing each other after a random draw, apart from the first round where the matches have been pre-determined.

Virtus.pro will lock horns with OpTic in the first round

Teams who reach three victories will advance to the quarter-finals, while teams with three losses will exit the tournament.

The sixteen teams were spread into four seeding pools according to their placing at the previous Major and the Main Qualifier, which partially determined the first-round match-ups (first pool versus the fourth, second versus third).

Kazakhstan Gambit  vs. Denmark North
Sweden fnatic vs. France G2
Brazil SK vs. Europe HellRaisers
Poland Virtus.pro  vs. North America OpTic
World Natus Vincere  vs. Europe MOUZ
United States Liquid vs. France Envy
Denmark Astralis vs. Sweden GODSENT
World FlipSid3 vs. Europe FaZe

The entire first round will be played on day one of the ELEAGUE Major, which is set to take place in the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia, from January 22-29.

nice one

I think of it this way, liquid came second at the last major, envy came 8th? Envy are about to roster change depending on the major, liquid are stuck with this lineup and can only get better.

Yeah but there's no denying that s1mple played a huge part in that. Doesn't take away from Elige's performance though, he was godlike. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. But I'm still giving nV the edge here

i think the best thing for scream woulda been to be included in the french super team. now whats gonna happen is hes gonna play with the leftovers and make a tier2-3 team or even get left out completely. doesnt sound that promising tbh.

I dunno.. scream has a very large fan base. I don't think he will settle for a tier 2-3 team and there's a strong possibility that other big organizations will see the opportunity to pick up an excellent player only time will tell i suppose, but i really don't think he's going to be a free agent for long

he doesnt have that much opportunity. his english isnt very good. he already tried the faze roster. it didnt work out that well for him. he could move to NA but even there, who would he join? fuckin TSM or some shit. = tier2-3. he could always get his stream back up to at least make a ton of money. he was pretty successful with that. but i dont think he'll make it on a top10 team.

Hmmmmm. That must be why all the EU kids that did the foreign exchange program back in High school were in all of the slow track classes like Business Math. If you weren't from India or some other developed Asian Country, this was the fate of all nearly all of the exchange students. The fact that you think me including Fox as part of the Majors nationality demographic is anything other than a joke further reinforces the stereotype that 90% of European countries are poverty ridden 3rd world attention sponges. Generally, when confronted with hard truths, said sponges latch onto the developed countries surrounding them as if their country is cut from the same cloth.

The world was colonized by splinter groups from the middle east and Africa...... Your statement infers that splinter groups are doomed to forever be less developed than the group they are departing from. The thought you put into your responses must be dismal. Otherwise your just furthering my stance on the 3rd world EU education system. Probably the latter considering your so triggered by my fox joke. Whats the saying? "Less educated anger easier"

Always the easy matchup for nip :( lel kek Astralis-Godsent, Navi-Mouz, VP-Optic, Gambit-North should be really good games the rest should be 1-sided affairs if everything goes according to theory.

North - they just have more experience G2 - they just look better than fnatic BUT If shuffle happen it Will be a shitshow of tier 2 teams SK - HR got no Oskar and SK will bootcamp, so SK should be more prepared Optic - good results lately, should take this NaVi - mouz is looking good lately but NaVi just have more experience and firepower Liquid - this is considering nV won't be the french shuffle. Also, Kenny can go god mode and rip NA Astralis - should be a close game tho FaZe - F3 tier 9000

They still have a good chance to make a quarter final. I would consider them better than f3, gambit, fnatic(depends on how well the players are playing.) They are pretty evenly matched with envy. I think they could play close with faze, Maybe they could also play close with mousesports. So they have good odds to make atleast a quarterfinal. They could also upset one of the top teams because its a best of 1.
