pasha: "Hope Gambit will be nervous"

Jarosław "pashaBiceps" Jarząbkowski gave us his thoughts on Virtus.pro's 16-14 win against G2 on Nuke as well as their upcoming match against Gambit for a spot in the playoffs.

Virtus.pro closed out the second round of the Swiss format with a nail-biting match against G2 on Nuke, prevailing 16-14 for a 2-0 record.

After edging G2, Virtus.pro will play Gambit for a spot in the quarter-finals

After the match, we asked Jarosław "pashaBiceps" Jarząbkowski about the close affair and their upcoming encounter with Gambit:

A very close match against G2 on Nuke, give me like the snippets, which do you think were the key rounds that decided it?

The key round was, for them at least, were two eco wins against us. They pushed yard twice and we lost stupid rounds, very stupid rounds, and if we didn't lose the stupid rounds we would break them. They surprised us every round, they pushed here, pushed there, rushed on eco, and killed us everywhere. Their key rounds were when they caught me three times on ramp and they had an advantage. I was in a shock twice, because when there was one second in the game where I wasn't focused, they caught me on ramp and pushed it, and I could only say "come on, mates, please kill him", because it would be my bad.

What about the rounds that allowed you to win in the end?

At the start it was me playing AWP on ramp, I have a view of everything there, and I can tell my teammates that I can stay alone there. And I can watch lower, so we started killing them, I stepped up with the AWP on ramp and lower and this is it.

Tomorrow you'll face Gambit in the third round for a spot in the playoffs, they've been somewhat of a surprise of the tournament so far, what do you make of the match-up?

You don't know what is inside Zeus' head, no one can know, probably even he doesn't know what's in his head before tomorrow. We can expect everything, Gambit won DreamHack but nothing big before, Zeus is the one guy who won a lot, but the four guys never won something big. I hope they'll be a little nervous versus us and we'll go to quarter-finals. So this is the plan for tomorrow, after this we can rest for two days and do a lot of stuff in Atlanta.

Make sure to check out the other interviews we've conducted on the first two days of the ELEAGUE Major:

Some are translated due to poor or lack of english and I also believe its due to conveniency and how they dont always want to be lugging around camera and mic seeking out these pleayers

I don't think its about English level (at least 90% are not), but that camera might me right guess. But imo its mainly because not everyone wants to watch 10 min long video (for example I prefer text interview over video one). You know, little bit of variation.

Yeah I think you're not the only one asking this question. But if you look at VP as it is, you'll understand that it is a group of friend before a "professional team". Remove anybody from this line-up and the team is dead. Yesterday, papaPasha was overtaken on every action. I believe Nuke is not his map, that's why he plays ramp. But he will never let VP down and he knows how to step up when he needs to.

I'd say that they're equally bros and professional teammates. They stay together not only due to friendship but also the marketing value. They're one of the oldest rosters playing together, all like-able and iconic. Not only friendship and performance matter here.

I wish him all the best, but it's painful to watch when your country struggle so much, and I see this agian and agian. He is very nervous, anxious and you can see fear all over his face, he need to work with mental trainer/coach or something similiar about those attitudes to deliver best performance otherwise those kids without emotional attachment and cold state of mind will be wreck him all the time. either way step up or gone.

medium performance isnt gonna cut it on the highest level. theres a chance it might work for this bo1 here, but its not gonna be a consistent thing. their only hope as a roster was that hobbitt turns out to be worldclass. and that has not happened.

Playoffs will be a totally different story than the group stage. Anyway I am sure they want to win the tournament, it doesn't make any sense to go to a tournament if you are not ready to win it.

-.- ofc ur not gonna go into any match not wanting to win it, but teams have realistic goals for themselves. and a realistic view for gambit would be to be happy with quarters. meanwhile a team like VP cant be happy with anything but finals.

Yeah, Dosia's teams have been like that for a long time, high potential but it's rarely realized. This Gambit lineup could be the realization of that potential (ironically with Dosia being the worst player on the team)
