CPH Games with $54,000 prize fund

Copenhagen Games' male CS:GO tournament will have €50,000 on offer (approximately $54,000), the event's organisers have revealed.

The news means that there is a €20,000 ($21,600) increase in prize money when compared to last year's tournament, which was won by HellRaisers after beating E-frag in the grand final.

The 2017 edition of Copenhagen Games, one of the oldest LAN events in the Nordic region, will run from April 13-15, with 16 teams taking part in the male CS:GO tournament, which will be sponsored by Plantronics and Waoo.

CPH Games will have over $50,000 on offer for male teams

Eight of those spots will be filled through invites with the remaining places being decided by a qualifier taking place on site.

BIG, Tricked, Fnatic Academy and iGame.com are some of the teams already confirmed for the event, but it is still unknown which of them, if any, will get to skip the qualifier.

In addition to the main tournament, Copenhagen Games will feature a female CS:GO competition with over $15,000 up for grabs and the likes of Secret, dignitas and LGB in attendance.

"female CS:GO competition with over $15,000 up for grabs." ehhhh would be mucho better if there would be like an open B tourny for all teams not just females.

exactly why u think female teams don't even try to qualify for male tourneys? (even this tier 9 tourney)

You are right. Thats why i wanted it to be a sort of B tourny, where a lower tier male teams could also play, not just female privalage cs. But i guess its good PR for the team orgs and the event itself so yeah.

BIG, Tricked, Fnatic Academy and iGame.com Are those invites? Maybe they should've confirmed prize pool "a little" earlier.. 16 instead of 32..sad :( hope they have at least a lower bracket, was always cool at this event

Teams generally get paid the money if the event is held anywhere in europe or NA or china ,unless ofcourse its something extravagant like gaming paradise. Point still stands. 50k$ in 2017 lol We are going to have a televised csgo league in India, which is going to be aired on MTV,and is backed by UTV , one of the biggest movie producers and owner of multiple channels in India. Its just a local tournament for local teams and prize money is around 50k. CPH games is supposed to be an old and global event.

It's definitely not correct. I just think the writer thought "male" was the appropriate thing to write as there's a seperate female tourney at the same event.

"In addition to the male tournament, Copenhagen Games will feature a female CS:GO competition with over $15,000 up for grabs and the likes of Secret, dignitas and LGB in attendance." still baffles me that female teams are so bad they have to compete in a separate tournament. i'd be ashamed to take an easier route to fame and prize winnings rather than compete against the best and they should be too. they have the option to compete in main events right? they just choose not to? disgusting. its time one of the top female teams chose to set an example and break the mold, choosing to compete in the main event in direction opposition to the female tournament.

It seems so counter productive to have separate female tournaments. How are they supposed to improve when the majority of the female teams play on a quite low Level? If they want a "female" tournament have the best female teams as invites and then have an open qualifier to fill the rest of the spots.

I can understand that having an exclusive female tournament helps to promote the sport among women. BUT, having said that, the main tournament, the male tournament as you so neatly reference it, should be completely gender neutral. If women are able to qualify, or a mixed team of both genders are, then I really do not see why it should be restricted. Furthermore, I would not mind seeing one of the top female teams receiving an invite either - it would create more focus for the female audience that may want to get into gaming professionally at a higher level AND it provides an incentive for that team and future female teams to aspire to perhaps one day reach the same level as the biggest male pro teams in the world.
