James "hazed" Cobb will be OpTic's new coach on a trial basis and also stand in at IEM Sydney as a player.

OpTic has had a downward trend since Peter "⁠stanislaw⁠" Jarguz left the team to sign with Liquid. They had an unsuccessful tryout period with Spencer "⁠Hiko⁠" Martin at DH Masters Las Vegas and IEM Katowice where they failed to get through the groups. Since then Jason "⁠jasonR⁠" Ruchelski has played as a stand-in for the North American team.

William "⁠RUSH⁠" Wierzba & company have now revealed that James "⁠hazed⁠" Cobb will be their new temporary coach and will also play at IEM Sydney as jasonR will not be available.

hazed will coach OpTic

hazed played for CLG for nearly two years until the team decided to go separate ways at the start of 2017. Some of hazed's achievements with CLG are a 3-4th finish at ESL ESEA Pro League Season 1 Finals and a 5-8th placement at MLG Columbus.

IEM Sydney which features the likes of Astralis and FaZe will take place from May 3-7 with a ~$200,000 prize pool. Here is the lineup OpTic will use for this tournament:

underrated , good guy and good player , its bad for him tbh to be a coach , will waste his talent , he still got it , just he didnt had a good teammates , give him a real chance optic ;/

making money in cs is all about who u know now...even if ur a shit player, u can always get a coaching job bc ur friends get u in. I cant see how hazed can help optic in any way. Theres nothing that he knows that the rest of the players on the team dont already know...

That's why he's on trial. If he can come up with some good strats and hold the team together, he's a fit.

You would be surprised on how much a outside perspective can help a team. Hazed was a former igl of clg, he can be a good coach.

rofl alright... hazed wouldnt be good enuff to be on more than like splyce or some shit. or like a support player on a mediocre NA team like misfits or whatever, but even there he would likely limit them too much. id say he would be the perfect candidate for becoming an IGL. that way he could impact the scene still. however: he already tried that on CLG and it failed and thats why he left.

Yeah an IGL, I feel like would be a great role for him. His playstyle kinda fits him to be an IGL aswel. But I just think hes still wasting his talent being a coach, buy who knows, maybe he's gonna be a good coach and OpTic will keep this coach longer than a month.

no way, it helps make mouse lifting easier, makes bullying easier. He is ready to dominate NA main or premier. too bad Optic can't have someone already on the team IGL and pickup Twistzz or someone who frags hard

I have seen him have great K/D against top 10 teams like LG before they were SK and other teams when he was with KKona and some with Misfits. You might be right, Misfits are bad so it doesn't really showcase his talent. If the top 3-4 NA teams would consolidate there might be some good NA teams. IDK why Stanislaw left Optic in the 1st place...I am guessing big $ but whatever it was he would have been better off long run staying on a team that can compete now Liquid and Optic both are just OK

KDKDKDKDKD nothing more though so far. ive seen misfits T sides and sometimes i thought the best would be if they had a guy with a whip behind twistzz who whips him into battle so he doesnt just stand around waiting to get peeked when they execute. and we have yet to see liquid on lan. i dont think stan woulda left optic if he didnt think they were going downhill and he could create something better in liquid. but i dont even think they have a fifth yet, and who knows how that all went down. i know they tried to get mixwell and rush but apparently that didnt work out.
