Cloud9 invited to ESL One Cologne

Cloud9 have been invited to attend ESL One Cologne, the event's organisers have revealed.

Cloud9 have become the ninth side confirmed for the event, joining SK Gaming as the only teams competing in North America to have so far received invites by ESL.

Timothy "⁠autimatic⁠" Ta's side were recently seen in action at cs_summit, where they placed fourth with Braxton "⁠swag⁠" Pierce acting as a stand-in. Later this week, the team will be in action at DreamHack Austin, with their first match pitting them against G2.

Cloud9 will attend ESL One Cologne

ESL One Cologne will have $250,000 on offer, with 12 of the 16 spots being filled through invites. The event will culminate with the playoffs at LANXESS Arena from July 7-9.

They should invite Immortals, is the second best team playing in NA currently. It's not fair they fight for a spot in qualifier. I think they're gonna invite mousesports, because it's a german tournament. If ESL is smart, ofc they gonna invite. Why would the german people go to a tournament which doesn't have any german team?

Didn't think they'd invite them but they beat Navi 16-0 on mirage after beating them on Nuke. They keep this up they are for sure gonna take an invite away from IM, Gambit, Optic, HR or Heroic

nip was okay u got 12 invites might aswell invite a wesa team that could maybe upset some teams. C9 is better than big i mean u remember the 3 big players in NA? they weren't even the #1 team in NA like wut and always got rekt by c9

If u remember they had 2 na players in their team,also legija is bad idk why they kept him,but nex is good,tabsen is decent etc. And they had 3 big players in na that 1 is igl and doesnt have that big fragging ability and other is just bad,tabsen were actually good. Also in big's first lan they got into final against f3 so it was very good achievement from them

mouz will be one of the two to qualify for sure but they haven't done enough to earn an invite. Hopefully they represent and maybe work their way into tier 1 cause right now Germany doesn't have a tier 1 team. Their play today against Navi looks promising though

They are a German esports organization with 5 separate EU countries as their players. One of them German and the only sub they have is German. So they are more German than anything else. Not as German as BIG but they still represent Germany for the most part.

I'd agree with you on all of those teams except BIG. However, I wouldn't want those teams to replace C9. Hopefully, C9 will make it out of groups. It's really sad that they haven't achieved much, if anything, ever since they won the ESL Pro League Playoffs Season 4 LAN.

It is not wasted. They need teams which might not qualify. And ofcourse are popular, so a lot of fans will watch. From a buisiness point of view it is quite smart. Nip and cloud9 might not qylify and are hugely popular.

Yea Immortals definitely more deserving then Optic. Didn't realize I forgot to add them in this comment but those are definitely the 5 teams up for the final 3 invites and if there is a 6th its Mouz because of where the tournament is being held.
