G2 move past Cloud9 in Austin

G2 are the final team to progress to the last-four stage at DreamHack Austin after seeing off Cloud9 on three maps (16-12 on Cobblestone, 12-16 on Inferno and 16-10 on Cache).

The series kicked off on Cobblestone, G2's map pick, but it was Cloud9 who started the brighter of the two sides, winning the pistol round as Terrorist after pushing A from the drop room, with Timothy "⁠autimatic⁠" Ta getting three kills to his name.

Once the game reached the gun rounds, G2 took control of proceedings, with a 0-3 deficit quickly turning into a 4-4 stalemate. With a triple kill, Jake "⁠Stewie2K⁠" Yip prevented G2 from taking the lead and set Cloud9 up for a string of rounds that saw them take a 10-5 half-time lead.

The second half began with G2 going for a fast B execute. autimatic almost pulled off a miraculous 1v4 clutch but was taken down by Dan "⁠apEX⁠" Madesclaire in the decisive 1on1. The French team took the corresponding anti-ecos, bringing the scoreline to 8-10, but once Cloud9 got their economy in order they won two rounds in a row and immediately put their opponents in danger of getting blown out.

With no money in the bank, G2 went for a B execute with just one rifle and four pistols. Luckily for them, Richard "⁠shox⁠" Papillon went huge, picking up three stunning entry frags to open up the site. That one round turned the game on its head, with G2 going on to win the map without dropping a single more round as Cloud9 had no response to the Europeans' pace.

G2 advance to the semi-finals with a great performance from apEX

Next up was Inferno, which began with Cloud9 taking the pistol round following an A execute. After losing both eco rounds, G2 won the first gun round thanks to a 1v2 clutch from Alexandre "⁠bodyy⁠" Pianaro, and then they strung several rounds together, eventually jumping out to an 8-3 lead. The next two rounds then went Cloud9's way, but the Frenchmen kept their cool and restored a five-round lead before the end of the half.

Now playing on the CT side, Cloud9 took the pistol round after taking advantage of a messy plant from G2 inside A. Despite securing the first gun round, G2 allowed Cloud9 to get back into the game, with Mike "⁠shroud⁠" Grzesiek picking up back-to-back triple kills to help his team to cut the deficit to a minimum.

The North Americans continued grinding out rounds, holding G2 off any economic development, and they eventually hit 15 rounds, with Jordan "⁠n0thing⁠" Gilbert dealing the finishing blow onto the Frenchmen with a 1v2 clutch inside B.

It all came down to Cache, the same map where Cloud9 had defeated G2 on day one. After losing the pistol round, Cloud9 hit back on eco thanks to three stunning Desert Eagle kills from Stewie2K. That round propelled the North Americans to take a 4-1 lead, but then Nathan "⁠NBK-⁠" Schmitt stepped up to the plate and held off two pushes.

Down 4-5, G2 were almost caught off-guard by another eco from Cloud9, but apEX saved the day by clutching a 1v3 situation. The 24-year-old finished the half on 18 kills as he powered G2 to take a respectable three-round lead.

Cloud9 held their own on the defensive side to start off the second half, winning the opening two rounds to bring the scoreline to an 8-9 deficit. They were, however, unable to tie up the score as they were caught off-guard by G2's A push, with apEX getting two key entry frags.

It all came down to Cache, the same map where Cloud9 had defeated G2 on day one. After losing the pistol round, Cloud9 hit back on an eco thanks to three stunning Desert Eagle kills from Stewie2K. That round propelled the North Americans to take a 4-1 lead, but then NBK- stepped up to the plate and held off two pushes on his own.

Cloud9 held their own on the defensive side, winning the opening two rounds to bring the scoreline to an 8-9 deficit. They were, however, unable to tie up the score as they were caught off-guard by G2's A push, with apEX getting two key entry frags.

With the momentum swinging back in their favour, G2 went on a great run, winning five of the next six rounds to hit match point. Cloud9 still found a lifeline with a sneaky play from Stewie2K, but then G2 hammered the final nail into the North Americans' coffin with a triple kill from Kenny "⁠kennyS⁠" Schrub.

dupreeh and friberg have always been a notch below apex in entry fragging. friberg maybe was good untill 2014 cologne but then nothing. only entry ever above apex has really been olof and even olof doesn't entry as good as apex with rifles. He usually made hay with tec-9. on his good days, apex is literally unplayable man

Name one other entry fragger except olofmeister or NEO on set pieces who walks into sites, gets 3 kills all entries and thebln hilds for afterplant. That's apex on his good days. In his worse days, he is Taco. Seized was never entry. He was 1st support

Olof, if anything, was always the player making solo plays on T side (in a good way) usually on the opposite side of the map. Similar to lurker but not quite the same, kind of like what Niko does now for Faze. Fnatic never really had a pure entry fragger, at least not to level that Apex, Dupreeh, or Friberg were so I really don't feel that it's fair to compare Krimz or Olof to those 3 even if they may have done it from time to time. Like I said Olof makes a lot of solo plays and sometimes they work and the team goes on directly after. It may look like he's entry fragging at some points but he's not an entry fragger to the degree the previously mentioned players are. That, however, does not mean he can't get entry kills. What defines an entry fragger is the player who goes in first on set plays when the team is actively trying to set him up with utility.

olof + dennis is that. Earlier it was olof only. Mate watch some olof demos. Out of 30 kills he has, break em down, you'll see 20 on CT, 4 with tec-9 and rest post plant. Most of the times in 2016, he was bad but had 30 frags since he is so good CT, you forget he entries almost exclusively

Yes I saw the map. It was literally him running out broken wall every round alone and getting 2-3 kills while the rest of his team was in a default or grouped A. I'll say it one more time, making successful solo plays is not entry fragging and he doesn't entry nearly as much as the others listed.

Taco is a support and Fnx is a lurker now...? Taco barely even entried before they got Felps, Fer did, and now he doesn't do it whatsoever. The stats make it pretty obvious... entry fraggers die a lot and Taco doesn't even have close to the deaths/round that any entry fragger in the scene has. And please don't tell me that's because he often clears out the site with 2ks/3ks because he also has the lowest kills/round on the team, just like any other support player. After Felps Lucas went from 2nd man to entry and Fnx started lurking more, which is what he wanted to do on SK but couldn't cold is/was simply better at it.

nothing just apEX taking over 2 bo3s since they happened in the same day. on apEX's good day, he is unplayable. But they are streaky days and come only sometimes like once every tournament. He's always ben like this

1. Preheat the oven to 180C. Generously grease a 22cm round cake tin. For the topping, put the chocolate, jam and cream into a small pan over a medium heat. Stir until smooth, then pour into the prepared tin. 2. In a bowl, mix the cocoa powder with 125ml boiling water, stirring until smooth, then add the milk, vanilla and jam, whisking to combine. 3. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, then add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt into a separate bowl. Using a large spoon, fold the dry ingredients and the cocoa mix into the creamed mixture, alternating the two, then fold the raspberries through. 4. Pour the mixture into the cake tin, ensuring you spread it right to the edge and cover the topping completely. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until firm. Leave the cake to cool in the tin for 15 minutes. (If not serving straight away you can refrigerate the cake in the tin, but you will need to warm it in the oven before turning it out.) 5. Turn the cake out onto a plate. You may need to scrape some sauce out of the tin and spread it over the top of the cake. Serve warm or cold, with fresh raspberries.
