Russian team Hala Ares have been disqualified from the CIS Minor closed qualifier as one of their players, Bogdan "naumoff" Naumov, has a VAC ban to his name.

The Russian player is banned from all Valve tournaments for life, something that the tournament organisers only realised after Tuesday's surprising victory over K29 in the first round of the qualifier.

As a result of the disqualification, the victory has been overturned, with K29 due to meet Spirit in the winners' match, while teamasd will wait for the losing side in the decider match.

CyberFocus' K29 have been granted the victory

Fifteen teams remain in contention in the CIS Minor closed qualifier. The top two teams from each of the four groups will secure spots in the $50,000 competition, which will take place from June 8-11 in Moscow.

yes, but no one has said he cheated because that is irrelevant. the rules speaks about vac bans and he has a vac ban. it is irrelevant if he cheated in the match or not, because that is not the reason why he is not allowed to play. i think you should leave this speculation and let naumoff and valve work it out between thems as they are the only people/entities that could possibly know the truth.

if it really interests you, you should ask valve this question. not some random dude on forum filled with trolls. my guess would be that they consider vac banned people to be cheaters. i think that valve does not want cheaters to participate in competitions they sponsor. also i think they want there to be a negative incentive not to cheat if you are an aspiring pro player. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valve_Anti-Cheat#F.. in this wikipedia article there are 3 recorded instances of false positivities connected to CSGO. they all have happened after 2014 which is after naumoff got his ban if a fellow user in this thread is to be trusted. also, a vac ban is almost 100% positive detection of a cheat. it is very unlikely that naumoff's vac ban is any different. if it is, he should contact valve personally and try to resolve this issue.

Not really, I legitimately think there's no reason for his team to be disqualified just because he has a vac. He played poorly overall, meaning he likely wasn't cheating when he played the match. What's the problem?

Although it's nice to see cheaters get punished, I don't get why Volvo just throws out a ban once in a while instead of setting a pure statement. Players like konfig or Heroic Niko both have smurfs/former account with VAC bans yet they are untouched. Is it because they are pro's and Volvo want to keep the imagery of a "clean" pro scene.
