jasonR leaves OpTic, hazed steps in

Just a few weeks after the team announced that Jason "jasonR" Ruchelski would be the team's fifth player for the period leading up to the Major, the team's in-game leader decided to step down from the roster.

OpTic has once again released information regarding a roster change through their YouTube documentary called Vision, with the latest episode revealing that Jason "jasonR" Ruchelski decided to leave the team.

After a short stint in OpTic, jasonR will retreat from competitive CS

According to the video, James "hazed" Cobb learned about jasonR's decision at the ESL Pro League S5 Finals in Dallas, but the rest of the team was informed a bit later, after the squad successfully qualified for the ECS S3 Finals by beating NRG.

The decision to leave OpTic allegedly came from jasonR feeling that he wouldn't become a permanent figure in the team, combined with the fact that traveling to multiple events could lead to his streaming presence taking a big hit.

With jasonR out, OpTic have reverted back to playing with their coach hazed, who led the team to a top four finish at IEM Sydney in May.

OpTic are now:

United States William "RUSH" Wierzba
Canada Keith "NAF" Markovic
United States Tarik "tarik" Celik
Spain Oscar "mixwell" Cañellas
United States James "hazed" Cobb

The fact that JasonR has been in the team for so long just shows that OpTic is a bad org. Hazed will make OpTic look more like the old team.

Especially since it's increasingly obvious that he was not going to get signed to a permanent deal. Why should he continue to work his ass off, travel all the time, let his stream suffer, etc while merely standing-in? If Optic wanted him, they could sign him to a proper contract. Otherwise, he can make more money streaming and not need to worry about all the other bullshit. It's a wise decision on his part.

Well even the article says Jason was worried about not being the permanent 5th and didn't want to jeopardize his only other income (streaming) if things didn't work out. I think this is mutual, ofc Jason will stay if they signed him to a long term contract but they have kept him on trial for a while (and doesn't seem eager at all to sign him, well to be fair he has been underwhelming) and Optic is probably wanting a better 5th to actually compete with the top. This is the equivalent of public figures like politicians "resigning" instead of getting outright forced out of office, they're being forced out and they know it but it saves face and makes it easier for both sides.

"The decision to leave OpTic allegedly came from jasonR feeling that he wouldn't become a permanent figure in the team" How about you read the whole sentence? If he stays with optic for a while longer, just to be cut and then suffers a major setback on his streaming career, that sure as hell would be a wise move?!?!?!?! Top fucking kek.

if he drops the opportunity to prove himself in a big team in order to ensure his streaming "career" he might aswell not call himself a pro player anymore, but rather a streamer.

If I had a steady income from streaming, maybe even a channel experiencing quite a lot of growth (I have no clue what the state of his channel is), I wouldn't give that up to play with astralis or North, if they expressed that they only wanted me as a sub until they found someone they think is more suitable.

why? optic have been hanging him out to dry while he's putting in more hours than anyone else on the team trying to igl and they STILL haven't offered him a contract. it's been nearly 6 months. i'd do the same in jason's shoes. he's proven he can igl and be a good enough fragger to igl for good NA teams. he can sign to an NRG or something, get probably just a good of salary that optic would offer, and be able to stream more than he would on optic.

I completely understand that side, but u know? how much the team made with him and they just started the job. The big fact is, the new fifth player will be always one more person. My perception is, they didn't made him feels like a piece of the team, confident and so, he made his decision...

I'm not sure but if I were Optic I would use some of that ELeague money to buy BnTeT or that ZywoO (check spelling). The team in its current state isn't going to win anything. So why not pick up a young kid, develop him and all the while keep training someone (NAF) to IGL under the guidance of Hazed.

JasonR invested so much time into getting his stream to where it is today, that the hit from 30 days of not streaming would undo much of it. Completely reasonable from him. JRNasty one of the most level headed players in the scene.

If someone strung you along for several months, didn't offer you a contract, and expected you to keep playing a pray that they do offer you a contract, you'd make a similar decision if you were wise. This is someone's livelihood. It's more complex than just streaming versus playing in a team.

they didnt give him a contract as a permanent player, he wasnt getting paid according to himself. and as he felt that they wouldnt actually take him as their permanent 5th, the risk of playing with them for a short time AND neglecting his stream (which pays his bills) would be too big of a risk.

yeah ive been watching his stream for a year now and i noticed the change in sub numbers as well, but it's pretty clear that the risk for him was getting too big (a month away from the stream etc)... dno, all in all im both glad that they picked him as a temporary (kinda proves he's seen as a good player by others), and that he left. beside that, picking up a rank S player and giving him the IGL role in a top tier NA team is a ridiculous move.

well I think he only got in the team to get the exposure and then leave it, because its pretty obvious that being in a team there would be less time for stream, but well look at shroud, ez free time so same could happen for him. what he understand was that he had too much on his shoulders as an igl and well streaming is easier and he doesn't care about anything. so he just used optic to get some boost, even though I also think that optic would replace him after some time

i guess he had two options in his mind: 1. doing great with optic and being on the team, earning a lot of money (a very small chance clearly), and 2. it doesnt work out but he grows his stream. well played

the point is that he still isn't apart of the team. he's still a "stand in". he's put in more hours to help the team igl than anyone else on the team and optic still haven't given him a contract. jason made the right move.

For all you fuckers saying how it was stupid for him to leave for his stream, he built his stream from the ground up and he knows he WONT be permanent in Optic. What Jason did was a god damned smart move.

Decent player and a great personality imo. I enjoy watching his stream tbh and i want him to be a streamer than a pro player. He could even be a panelist at an esports show or even on television. Wish him the best

If Hazed could embrace the IGL role, he could be a good fifth for OpTic imo

This is why I don't get why OpTic are still so highly ranked. They've been running around like chickens with their heads cut off since stan left

Im wondering if streaming for 1000-2000 ppl is worth more than a monthly salary over 10k (or is optic paying so bad????) +prizemoney cuts for each of the players?!

I mean, I can understand his decision. The amount he makes streaming can set him up for a comfortable life in the medium term. Plus, he can have a part time job and maybe even assume a caster/analyst position in the future. I just wish he had tried a bit more in OG.

im really happy for jason, i enjoy his streams and would continue to support him for the months to come both as a sub and with my donations. optic did not offer him a decent contract and really deserved this. good luck to them finding a decent igl, if they can really. good fucking job jason, love you keep up the good work my man

This will most likely not impact his streaming in a bad way, getting your name out there is gonna bring viewers to his stream, even more if he does well. This excuse is just blatantly fucking moronic

What a suprise he sucks in na esea rank s so how can he play vs eu teams? No chance. And this is just shows the lack of motivation in na players he wants to make ez money and doesnt want to train hard and try to actually achieve something. I dont really know why anyone even watch he's stream.
2017-06-15 06:11

May be there are some internal disputes in term of contract. What i see in Jason is a decent IGL who can frag and clutch a bit. The top teams in NA right now besides Stanislaw of Liquid doesn't have a true IGL. That's why i think if Optic gonna sign him, he would have to commit more being a dedicated IGL which he doesn't fancy about it much. So he decides to go back to be a streamer where he feels better about himself and also better for him financially

He has to do what feels right by himself first but i think he wasted a chance he likely isnt gonna get again. Too bad for all parties involved but the best of luck to jason. Still a cool player and streamer nonetheless.
