Europe Minor - PGL Major Krakow 2017PENTA beat EnVyUs; to Main Qualifier
PENTA have defeated EnVyUs 2-1 (Cobblestone 16-11, Inferno 9-16, Cache 16-6) on their way to the upper bracket final, securing their spot at the PGL Major Main Qualifier.
Cobblestone kicked off the first upper semi-final at the Europe Minor, with Envy picking up the first pistol on the CT side. PENTA replied right back on the back of Miikka "suNny" Kemppi's 1v3 with a Deagle and got off to a five-round streak.
Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom's triple gave nV their second, but the Frenchmen found themselves without any money once Jesse "zehN" Linjala put up a triple of his own for another five rounds in a row in the end, which included three eco rounds.
Envy only picked up one more before the half ended, but they came out on top of the second pistol to begin clawing back into the match. Vincent "Happy" Schopenhauer's 1v3 up against a full eco and another clutch, a 1v1, going his way helped his squad close the distance to 9-12.
PENTA decimated the next B attack to pick up their first round on the defense, while the Frenchmen got the following two, but Envy' comeback attempt was denied after all, as Paweł "innocent" Mocek & co. closed map one out with three rounds in a row, after zehN saved a 1v1 at the very end.
Inferno followed with Envy winning their third pistol in a row, getting off to a 3-0 lead as Terrorists. innocent's triple then set off a flurry of rounds going PENTA's way for 5-3 in their favor, but it was the Frenchmen who got away with the better half, switching over to Counter-Terrorists at 9-6.
The first two rounds of the second half were exchanged with PENTA reaching nine rounds thanks to their forcebuy win. However, with six rounds in a row, in two of which Christophe "SIXER" Xia clutched a 1v1, Envy sent the series to its third map, Cache.
There, Envy picked up the pistol thanks to Cédric "RpK" Guipouy's quad-kill and a 1v1, but yet again dropped the following round and began the half with a 1-3 deficit. After the Frenchmen equalized the score, PENTA took over the half, going up 9-4 also thanks to suNny clutching a 1v3.
PENTA switched over at 10-5 and set up a fake on the A bombsite, leaving three players hidden, with Envy taking the bait and running into the stack. zehN's team had little trouble finishing the match off, only losing one round before clinching the series at 16-6.
