North squeeze past Virtus.pro; qualify for playoffs

North have secured a spot in the PGL Major Krakow playoffs following a hard-fought 16-14 victory over Virtus.pro on Mirage.

The match began with North getting slaughtered in the pistol round on their way to B, where Jarosław "⁠pashaBiceps⁠" Jarząbkowski picked up three rounds. After almost winning a force-buy round, North managed to break through Virtus.pro's defence on a shoddy buy thanks to Philip "⁠aizy⁠" Aistrup finding two kills with a P250.

The Danish team went on to add the next round, equalising the score at 2-2, but then they struggled to find a way past Virtus.pro's tight defence, with the Polish team winning five rounds in a row without even letting their opponents plant the bomb.

It was only then that North's offence truly came to life. The Danes won four rounds without response to bring the deficit to a minimum, but they could not find the equaliser as they got torn apart by pashaBiceps, who secured a quad kill with an AWP, setting Virtus.pro up for a 9-6 lead.

North through to the playoffs

Now playing on the CT side, North won a messy pistol round and the subsequent anti-ecos to make it 9-9. The first four gun rounds were a complete blowout as Virtus.pro could not even plant the bomb, but then they were able to get a round on the board in a semi-buy following a quad kill from Filip "⁠NEO⁠" Kubski.

That one round ended up turning the game on its head. In the next three rounds, Virtus.pro ran all over the Danish defence, completely destroying their economy. After calling a timeout, North successfully retook the A site two times in a row in 5v5 post-plant situations to hit match point. Virtus.pro still tried to play for overtime, but they could not sell an A fake, with Emil "⁠Magisk⁠" Reif picking up two crucial kills in B to hand his team a playoff berth.

maaan, what r u talking about. Vp were 3x better than fnatic. They lost 2 pistols, made 3 or more dumb mistakes like 5v3 4v2 and still won this.

+1 no one seems to get that Astralis is always bad in group stage but better in playoffs. Dupreeh even said in an interview once that they like to peak in later stages of the tournament.

These 3 has to cheer for face Flipside. It´ll probably ez win. C9 and IMT are a little bit favourites against vp/fnatic. 55/45 I think. Against G2, the French is a little bit favourite (due to moment), like 55/45 too. Anxious to the draw of 2-2 record´s teams.

I hope for G2 that they'll face immortals, they have a really good past record against them. If i could choose, i want VP to face flipside, because they obviously need to be at the arena in krakow. Fnatic need to fight their hearts out against c9. But there will probably be a VP-G2 or G2-fnatic draw, with my luck in predictions :/

Beating them was not lucky, they actually should have closed it out way earlier, but went from 13-9 to 13-14. In other news North won 11 of the last 19 matches against VP, so let's put this "luck" talk to rest, shall we?

Vp giving hope to every dmg player out there. The end of this game wasnt much different from the games i have on my smurf. Vp tossed away the game and I dont really see them getting their 3rd win after this lose. North had no bsns getting into the playoffs, they got gifted 2 wins in a row without showing anything
