SK and Astralis pick up comfortable wins in Malmö

DreamHack Masters Malmö 2017—the first big LAN after the player break—kicked off with two games. In Group A, SK faced BOOT-d[S] on Mirage in the opening game.

Even though the T-sided Singaporean team were able to plant the bomb three rounds in a row to kick off the map, SK had successful retakes in all rounds, leading 3-0.

SK had an easy start to the tournament

BOOT-d[S] won the seventh round of the game after losing the previous six to get themselves on the board. However, they got reset immediately in the following round as SK led 7-1. SK continued their dominance throughout the first half and finished it 13-2 ahead.

SK secured the T-side pistol round with Marcelo "⁠coldzera⁠" David's triple kill and went on to win the match 16-2 to start the event with a win.

Meanwhile, Astralis and Renegades kicked off the Group B action on Train. The Danish squad who started on the CT-side lost the pistol round but bounced back to win the force buy. Astralis led 13-2 at halftime after a relentless defensive effort, shutting down Renegades.

Nicolai "⁠device⁠" Reedtz & company planted the bomb on the B-site in the second half pistol round and won the round. Astralis closed out the game with a 16-3 win.
