NiP and G2 close out initial round of groups

Group C, in which Gambit previously defeated MOUZ, continued with FaZe and Ninjas in Pyjamas, who were pitted against one another on Nuke.

After clinching the first pistol round and both following rounds, Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen's men had trouble defending against Ninjas in Pyjamas's strategic play. The Swedes soon took over the half thanks to several well-timed executes, leading 7-4.

FaZe then quickly shut down another attack on upper but couldn't top it off with one more to secure an economic advantage, as Ninjas in Pyjamas finished off the half with nine rounds.

f0rest led the way in NiP's first win in their home country

Richard "⁠Xizt⁠" Landström & co. conceded the second pistol round but replied quickly in the forcebuy, with Patrik "⁠f0rest⁠" Lindberg winning a 1v2 with a Deagle. The legendary player topped it off with a quad-kill up against FaZe's forcebuy, setting off a flurry of rounds going the Swedes' way. 

It wasn't until 14-7 when FaZe broke the streak, but it was all for nothing, as their economy got shredded in the following round, allowing Ninjas in Pyjamas to close things out 16-8.

Group D's second match of the initial round saw the Frenchmen go at each other in a derby on Inferno. Envy got off to a dominant start as Terrorists, picking up a 6-1 lead with ease, barely contested by the favored G2.

NBK-'s 1v1 win then set off a four-round streak for his team, but the last three went Envy' way, whose RpK and SIXER each got a quad to their name on their way to a 10-5 half.

Envy topped it off with a pistol round win, but G2 clinched the next forcebuy to tip the scales in their favor in terms of economy. Richard "⁠shox⁠" Papillon's team penetrated the defense again and again, closing the gap between the two sides.

With a 2v4 win by the in-game leader and NBK-, the scoreline was even at 11-11 and soon the favorites picked up the lead. Envy had the answer once but still allowed their rivals to gain match point at 15-12. Two rounds later, Kenny "⁠kennyS⁠" Schrub grabbed two entry kills, allowing his team to push into the A site and grab the win, 16-13.
