G2 to the grand final over NiP in Malmö

G2 have become the first grand finalists at DreamHack Masters Malmö after beating NiP 2-0 (16-9 on Inferno and 19-17 on Cache).

The first semi-final at DreamHack Masters Malmö was between G2 and Ninjas in Pyjamas. The Frenchmen started on the CT-side on Inferno which was the first map in the best-of-three series.

G2 had a strong start and stopped the T-sided Ninjas in Pyjamas in the first three rounds. Richard "Xizt" Landström and Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg clutched a 2vs4 in the first weapon round as their team trailed 1-3. Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt's double kill in the following round made it 4-1 and the Frenchmen got two more rounds before Ninjas in Pyjamas could respond.

G2 will be in the grand final

Ninjas in Pyjamas secured their second round after G2's aggressive plays across the map didn't work out (6-2). Richard "shox" Papillon got a quad kill in a 2vs4 situation and clutched the round, extending his team's lead to 8-3. shox finished the half with twenty four kills and his team led 12-3.

William "draken" Sundin, Fredrik "REZ" Sterner, and f0rest shut down Banana in the second half pistol round, giving Ninjas in Pyjamas their fourth round. The round win could have triggered a comeback effort but G2 had other plans as they secured the following round with a force buy (13-4). G2 wrapped it up with a 16-9 scoreline.

Cache was the second map and the CT-sided G2 picked up the pistol round with Dan "apEX" Madesclaire's triple kill. When G2 were leading 3-1, they had a 5vs2 advantage but they lost the round to Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund's quad kill. Ninjas in Pyjamas got six rounds in a row to lead 7-3 but the Frenchmen turned it around to finish the first half 8-7 ahead.

NiP's run in Malmö is over

Ninjas in Pyjamas tied the game with the second half pistol round victory and won three more rounds, making it 11-8 in their favor. After a back-and-forth half the map went to overtime.

draken almost clutched a 1vs3 in the first round of overtime but NBK- killed him to put his T-sided team ahead. The French squad won the first half 17-16. shox & co. won the map 19-17 and series 2-0 to advance to the grand final in Malmö.

Easily could have won second map if they didnt make a couple mistakes/apex spray two guys through smoke. First map would have been way closer if they didnt fuck up their post-plants in the first half. Idk it's their fault they lost, G2 were better, but with a bit more practice and Draken/Rez more experience they can be Top 5 I think
