North triumph over Gambit, advance to final

North joined G2 in the grand final of DreamHack Masters Malmö following a 2-0 triumph over Gambit (Train 19-15, Cobblestone 16-6).

The second semi-final's first map was Gambit's choice, Train, where the Kazakh team started on the Terrorist side. North got the early lead with Valdemar "valde" Bjørn Vangså clutching twice for 4-0, before the next three went the other way.

René "cajunb" Borg's triple with an AWP helped the Danes secure three more for 7-3, with the remainder of the half going back and forth for a 10-5 halftime score.

Gambit then picked up a clean pistol round and kept crushing North's attempts to breach into either site until it was 12-10 in their favor. Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen's team then got on the board on the back of a 2v2 win on the A site, and after Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke clutched a 1v2 on B, the Danes forced Gambit on low economy.

valde led the way for North on Train

A forcebuy attempt yielded nothing for the CIS-based team, who then had to eco and proceeded to concede a 1v2 to cajunb on the lower bombsite, as North reached map point. Dauren "AdreN" Kystaubayev & co. were forced to buy up with little money in the bank and made it work, climbing back into the match with three rounds in a row, forcing overtime. It was all for naught, however, as North swept their opponents 4-0 in OT to win the first map 19-15.

North once again got off to a great start on the second map, Cobblestone, going up 5-1 after coming out on top of the early shenanigans full of forcebuys. Gambit then defended the next two attacks to close the gap to 5-4, but the Danes distanced themselves once more with the next three. The remainder of the half went back and forth between the two teams, with North grabbing a 9-6 lead in the end.

Switching over to the defense, North kept piling up rounds with k0nfig at the helm, leaving little room for error for AdreN's side. Gambit tried a few more attacks, but none contested the Danish squad, who ran away with the match at 16-6.

fitch proved that he's very good pick by Gambit. North just amazing performance and I think they'll give some fight to G2. Also stunna is american k0nfig, they look very similar... xD EDIT: Magisk's departure helped aizy's space. Plus I noticed that valde plays slightly different than Magisk and so far it works. Also when cajunb will be considering leaving there's JuGi.

It is close, but it looks like a 2-0. I believe G2 right now is just too damn good, they look like they REALLY worked during the vacation on a lot of mistakes.

Astralis skipped esl one to antistrat sk and sk only, losing to gambit (fair btw). I'd like to imagine that's what happended to gambit here

A theory I believe as well, Gambit turned up out of nowhere and has since then been a nuisance for Astralis. Now that North has beaten them and shown a new level of performance, it might be time for a face-off between these two Danish teams. To find out which is the best in Denmark! :D

GG North. Gambit's shooting today was a disaster. Only one more hit with awp, one more headshot, one less death and it would be third map.

Sorry G2 not this time, I think North teamwork and strategic depth will prevail. Have looked awesome all tournament and seeing aizy performing I can't go against them. Both teams rolling, confident and playing good CS so I just hope we get 3 awesome maps and the better team on the day wins !
