ESWC announces $59,000 tournament

The organisers of the eSports World Convention (ESWC) have announced that they will host a tournament later this year with €50,000 (approximately $59,000) up for grabs.

Running from November 2-3 as part of the Paris Games Week fair, the tournament, called ESWC CS:GO OMEN by HP, will see four francophone teams - two invited plus two qualified - duke it out for the lion's share of a €50,000 prize pool.

Envy and LDLC are the first two confirmed teams for the tournament, with the other two being determined by 16-team online qualifiers, which will be held next month.

Only francophone teams will compete at this year's ESWC

This will be one of the smallest CS:GO competitions in ESWC history. Last year, the French company hosted two tournaments, one for male and one for female players, with over 40 teams in attendance and a combined prize pool of $90,000. ALTERNATE aTTaX won the male competition after defeating LDLC in the final, while Team Secret, now known as Dynasty fe came out on top of the female tournament after beating Selfless in the title decider.

yeh blame everything on the president ! definitely not the company's fault ! eswc actually lost big time in competition to dreamhack, IEM, faceit, e-league, MLG and PGL. Even ESWC 2015's budget was pretty lackluster... there was no arena, just a projector and some chairs, and a VIP theater with couches...

Lost ? They never seek for that in 2015 or later. You can't host a big tournament in Paris unless you have $$$ like Riot.

When I used to play CS 1.6 back in 2006, ESWC and WCG used to be like WORLD CUPS. Now its like a local city tournament in terms of prize :( I Still love ESWC though, gave us good memories.
