FaZe to EPICENTER Wild Card Qualifier

FaZe have secured their place at the EPICENTER Wild Card Qualifier after beating NiP 2-0 in the grand final of the Europe closed qualifier.

FaZe have become the first team to qualify for the EPICENTER Wild Card Qualifier which will hand out the last two spots at EPICENTER 2017.

Ladislav "⁠GuardiaN⁠" Kovács & company finished first in the eight-team Europe closed qualifier which had a group stage and double-elimination playoffs. After finishing first in their group, FaZe beat HEROIC and Ninjas in Pyjamas in the upper bracket to advance to the grand final.

GuardiaN & co. finished the EU closed qualifier without losing a map

FaZe once again squared off against Ninjas in Pyjamas, this time in the grand final. Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen’s team beat the Swedes 19-15 on Cache and 16-6 on Mirage to book their spots in the Wild Card Qualifier.

The Wild Card Qualifier will be played offline in Saint Petersburg, Russia on October 23. A team from the Americas closed qualifier, one from the CIS closed qualifier, and an Asian team will take part at this event where the top two teams will move on to EPICENTER 2017.

It's not so much the fact that they have to qualify, it's the fact that FaZe has had to spend like 20 hours in the past month just getting ready for and playing tier 2 teams in some damn qualifier... literally they smashed NiP 3 times in a row to prove that they are at the top of their group. With ELEAGUE Playoffs coming up, this is so much precious time for them to have to waste, especially since they are the top contender and need to be ready for every counter strat that the other teams have prepared.

How is closed qualifier for a big tourney a waste of time for a team - it's the best training they can get - FaZe is new to CSGO scene therefore not linked with any tourney organizer, plus they're that good after signing guardian and olof - not that those two are that good - they just fit the roles old FaZe lineup didn't have with guardian feeling confident once more and olof not playing thinking that the team will lose of he won't perform - that just works.

VP got far into the event last year so they get to keep their spot. Faze bombed out in groups because they didn't have the lineup like they have today. Kind of like the Legend status at the major.
