Dust2 rework added to beta depot

Just 24 hours after revealing that the new Dust2 would soon hit the beta depot, Valve has released the map.

In February Dust2 was replaced by Inferno in the active map pool, and since then one of the most iconic maps in Counter-Strike history has been under rework and it seems to be almost done now.

According to Valve, it is "an updated, refined version" but at first sight, it looks like the old Dust2 - just with new textures and minor changes.

Many expected the skybox above tunnels to be removed to make it possible to throw grenades over the roof, but this is not the case for the map yet as the skybox still appears.

The reworked Dust2 is still in beta, making it not possible to play yet unless you go to Library and right click on CS:GO and choose Properties. Then you navigate to the Beta tab and choose to download 1.36.0.7.-rc1.

Valve is looking for feedback on the map, which will be continuously updated in the coming months.

Nice! Welcome back d2 , the best map in cs. I'm glad they didnt change the basics , they are smart about it.

To me it seems they didn't really do much about it. The aspects playing the map just seem too similiar. In my honest opinion I would've expected more ways to juke by impressions and fakes, this doesn't seem to bring anything new to the table. None-the-less, I've always felt that D2 is in many ways the best map of the game so there's sufficient reason not to change it too much too..

A very good position B ramp near window. Wooden doors will changes a lot how you play mid and a bit long and b car long looks way easier to play now. probably some grenade changements, like i don't know if you can still throw that long car > long doors molotov that pops before the T's can pick

I'm not sure what all complainers expected. There was nothing really wrong with the old map except it looked a bit dull. (colour palette was terrible) Personally I like how it looks, and I'm really interested how it plays out.

People who blaming that they didnt change nothing : So you probobly expected that it's gonna be huge changes like new entrance to B? ... As you see there more corners where you can hide now and they looks like a corners . For example out mid behind doors near CT base , good corner , two corners near catwalk, the guys can't see you properly from lower tunnel now, you can hide in the corner and watch mid from short if you playing aggro. You can stay on long behind the car. There is no spot on B site, where was TOWER box and you could jump on that and from tunnel perspective they could see only your head... Now you can realize that like boost each other but it's kinda risky. And still it's BETA so stop crying like a bitches and there is no metal-doors as you see.

not exactly. i run through the map already and there ARE several changes. cars totally different places now B totally different angles now (for example you can peek ct from window easily now without big risk) mid doors is also totally different story now i would say. the box in mid got changed. you can get up 100% silent now without taking the catwalk. some walls got changed so flashes for example bounce different now lightning is totally different now and oh ... NEW MODELS

2010 PC will run this shit 300fps if u know what you're doing.. i7 930 f.e. was a 2010 released processor and OC that shit up to around 4GHz+ and you'll find yourself around 300 fps. :p Older then 2010 on the other hand.. Gonna have atleast slight issues running stuff.

Actually there's many tactics to be pulled out in D2, mid to B splits with smokes, A split from mid to CT and short(maybe even 1 guy flanking long), short and A split after B fake or the other way around.. Obviously, there could be even more room for tactics if they f.e. opened up the skyboxes but D2 isn't non-tactical at all in the end..

It's a different aspect of the tactical game reading what the opponent is doing and what's your/their capabilities with the utility and weaponry they've got at hand, especially with the rotation capabilities of D2. Most maps have been played enough to have baseline tactics that are mostly utilized atleast as a base for other tactics, D2 is not alone with this. :P Just a bit harder map to find new tricks when it's so played.

Laptop gaming? Older PC then 2010? Shitty, budget parts? Any 1st worlder shouldn't have issues with CSGO if they wish to play it proper.. Complaining about performance issues is usually mundane and it's your fault not the game creators. If you want more performance, buy a better PC. On the other hand, if the game is so poorly optimized that even the best shit on the market can't run it properly.. Then I'd understand what you're crying about but it clearly isn't so. Sooo.. So just cosmetic changes, nothing new regarding strategies, I bet even smokes and flashes are basically the same. Skyboxes are the same, some new nice models on B site and tunnels look good, but A site/long is imo worse, feels too clean, too sterile :/ Seriously we need someone withs balls to sit down with a group of people or even search through the internet and find some good ideas where to make new entrances, how to change the map to make it feel like d2 but add a breath of fresh air. How the fuck this map is more playable now than it was before? Nothing changed, textures were not a problem...

WOW, I am absolutely disappointed with this; they had the opportunity to make some slight gameplay changes and didn't so the same reasons that people stopped playing the map as often (particularly pros) are STILL here. I assumed they would make a couple of changes to the B site, for example add an extra entrance point, like a squeaky door or something so that the CT's need to think about putting 2 people in the bomb site for longer. Also, it would have been nice to narrow short and make it more of a choke point rather than having so much space for the ts to roam free. It's so easy for ts to burst into A from short, to the extent that no one every really holds short that often as you may as well just let the ts take it. The amount of times you see eco's breaking onto the A bombsite through short is insane.

This is not the final map. This is why they put it out in a BETA. When they made INFERNO they gave it to the pro gamers and some orgs that tested the map now they give it to the community first. And now they can get feedback. But they should made some small changes. But dust2 will always be dust2 thats why they dont fuck it up and change it to something new. They should make a dust 2.1 that is brand new and keep the old dd2 :D
