G2 defeat Astralis at EPICENTER

G2 have secured their first victory at EPICENTER 2017 after beating Astralis 2-0 in the Group B opener.

The second match of the day began on Cache, G2's map pick. With a fast B execution, Astralis secured the Terrorist pistol thanks to an ace from Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth, which included an impressive 1v4 clutch, setting them up for a 3-0 lead.

The Frenchmen then managed to get their first two rounds on the board, but Astralis would soon regain control of proceedings, with the scoreline blooming to a 9-2 advantage in the Danes' favour. However, a successful CZ force-buy in the 12th round marked the beginning of a turnaround from G2, who would go on to win the last three rounds of the half to reduce the deficit to 9-6.

After winning the second pistol round, the French squad easily levelled the score, 9-9. In the first gun round, a fast-paced A execution with four men through squeaky put G2 in the lead for the first time in the series. After that Kenny "kennyS" Schrub and co. increased their lead to 12-9, breaking Astralis' economy.

A triple-kill from Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen in a semi-buy was all that Astralis needed to try to make a comeback in the second half. But G2 would not that happen as they eventually closed out the map, 16-13.

NBK- had a great performance on Cache

G2 opened up the action on Inferno an unorthodox, yet successful, four-man push through mid. Despite losing the following anti-eco, Richard "shox" Papillon's men would then win three more rounds without response.

Down 4-1, the Danish men bagged their second round of the map, but there was little they could do after that as G2 kept shutting them down. It was only in the 13th round that Astralis were close to picking up one more round, but Dan "apEX" Madesclaire clutched a 1v2 to put his team up by nine rounds.

Although the Danes found a lifeline by winning their last two rounds as Terrorists, G2 got off to a good start to the second half, securing the pistol and the subsequent anti-ecos. The French team would go on to win the following round, sealing a convincing 2-0 victory that puts them one match away from the playoffs.

A lot of players below nova rank worship The Great Ginger, taking all his words like gospel. I won't lie, I used to like him until he started bandwagoning all the obvious winning teams from titan to fnatic to envyus to astralis to SK to astralis again. His predictions are way off most the time. His bread and butter is "pick the tournament favorite and if they do win, haha I told you so! My predictions are always right!". Anyone can do that. :x

g2 might had good days. but still win is win. astralis players were way too cocky, acting like no one can beat them. their overconfidence is destroying them.
