Renegades book ELEAGUE Major Main Qualifier spot by beating TyLoo

The best-of-three series was between Renegades and TYLOO who beat Flash and MVP PK, respectively, in the first round of the double-elimination playoffs. This upper-bracket final offered a spot at the ELEAGUE Major 2018 Main Qualifier.

The action kicked off on Inferno where the T-sided TYLOO won the first six rounds. The Australian team stopped the streak and responded by getting three rounds in a row but TYLOO secured the first half victory (10-5).

Renegades are through to the Main Qualifier

Renegades had a flying start to their T-side campaign, as they won a 3vs4 in the pistol round and a 2vs4 in the following one. Justin "⁠jks⁠" Savage & company grabbed three more rounds to tie the game at 10-10 but they couldn’t go ahead as TYLOO won three rounds in a row to lead 13-10.

The score was tied at 14-14 when Keith "⁠NAF⁠" Markovic and jks clutched a 2vs5, winning the round and securing one map point. However, they couldn’t win the thirtieth round of the map and the game went to overtime.

The first overtime ended with an 18-18 scoreline and triggered a second one. After both teams secured a round, Hansel "⁠BnTeT⁠" Ferdinand clutched a 1vs2 post plant on the T-side to get his team their twentieth round (20-19). TYLOO finished it off on the CT-side, winning the map 22-19.

TyLoo came up short against Renegades

After losing on Inferno, Renegades kicked off Cobblestone on the T-side and they were firing on all cylinders. Karlo "⁠USTILO⁠" Pivac’s team grabbed the first seven rounds and went on to have a 13-2 lead at halftime. TYLOO had a hopeful start to the second half as they won the first four rounds of the half to trail 13-6 but Renegades closed it out to tie the series at 1-1 (16-6).

TYLOO started Mirage on the T-side and won the pistol round by taking the A-site. Even though they lost the following round, TYLOO responded with two rounds in a row to lead 3-1.

In the fifth round, Renegades won a 3vs5 which was the breaking point of the half. The Australian team won ten of the last eleven rounds of the first half to have an 11-4 lead at halftime.

Renegades closed out the map with a 16-4 scoreline and won the series 2-1. With this result, they booked their spot at the ELEAGUE Major Main Qualifier. TYLOO will have another chance to qualify when they play the winner of the match between MVP PK and Flash.
