Renegades replace Immortals at IEM Oakland

Immortals were forced to withdraw from IEM Oakland 2017 due to the inability to field the majority of their invited roster, and in their place, Renegades were invited.

The Brazilian side that has been going through a tough period after their second place finish at the PGL Krakow Major, with three core members: Vito "kNgV-" Giuseppe, Henrique "HEN1" Teles and Lucas "LUCAS1" Teles, no longer a part of the starting lineup. Patching up the roster with last-minute replacements took a toll on their results, and we saw them miss out on the Americas Minor, as well as a slot at the regional WESG qualifier.

Renegades will be heading for IEM Oakland after iBUYPOWER Masters

Now, Immortals are being forced to withdraw from IEM Oakland as they aren't able to field a roster that meets the lineup restriction rules. Even though Immortalsinvitation was announced back when they had the twins in the lineup, according to ESL's press release, Immortals were invited to IEM Oakland with their roster consisting of Ricardo "boltz" Prass, Lucas "steel" Lopes, Caio "zqkS" Fonseca, João "horvy" Horvath and Lucas "destiny" Bullo, but as the organizer put it: "Player Visa issues stemming from employment prior to joining Immortals would not allow for entry into the United States for the competition".

At this moment, it is unclear which Immortals players are having visa problems, but ESL stated that the team would be able to field only two out of the five listed players, which would not be enough according to the ruleset that requires the majority of the invited players (3/5) to attend the event.

Stepping into Immortals' spot will be Renegades, who have been on a roll recently, winning the Asia Minor and the SL i-League Invitational Shanghai, and have also made the grand final of iBUYPOWER Masters 2017, where they will face the winner of Cloud9 - Liquid soon.

With Renegades, who are currently 17th in our ranking, set to attend IEM Oakland 2017, the team list for the event now looks like this:

Denmark Astralis Europe FaZe
United States Cloud9 France G2
Brazil SK Kazakhstan Gambit
Sweden Ninjas in Pyjamas United States Liquid
France Envy Europe OpTic
Mongolia The MongolZ Australia Renegades

At this point, it has not been specified if Renegades will be taking Immortals' spot in group B or if the groups would be adjusted.

Well ESL should have stated that in their announcement just like they did last year when fnatic couldn't attend EPL finals in Brazil, but yeah, I thought about being the "easiest" team too. Good luck to them anyway, they have never made into playoffs in a tier 1 event, and this is the best form they have ever achieve.

This is true, but they are an e-sport organization, being bigger in other games should not give to Noah free pass to destroy the csgo area, if it was just that I would not mind, what makes me angry is that they are preventing three great Brazilian players from playing, maybe they can't play the major.

Good luck to Renegades at the tournament, well deserved aussie boys! Immortals should just disband and look for another options right now.

I was just looking at the team list a few days back and thinking of this exact change This event will be even better now! And with round robin groups, renegades has a real shot at getting out

Noah turn Immortals back to the begining for "honor". ORG's who respect, be close of your players and know how to solve questions with intern talks deserve to be in low tiers. Noah be nothing i sayd before.
